I am looking to try a different course than the usual courses around baton rouge. I frequent the bluffs just looking for a different course to play soon. Haven't played anything in New Orleans area.

Carter Plantation gets a lot of shite on here but I think it's a fun course. Around Nola you have Lakewood, TPC and Bayou Oaks

Lakewood, TPC, Audubon (if you want to play a par 3 course). One course that I wish they would take care of is Stonebridge. That could be a pretty decent course but no one ever takes care of it.

English Turn, Carter, Bayou Oaks. The Bluffs is really top of the list.

There is really a dearth of good public courses.

TPC LA is solid. Bayou Oaks is pretty good. Both are going to be close to a c note to play, though. Oak Harbor on the northshore in Slidell is a fun course with some character. The MS gulf coast dominates south louisiana in quality golf courses, thanks mostly to the casinos.

Black Bear, Links on the Bayou, and Tamahka are personal favorites.

Yes it's closed. It was a joke, if you'd been around the golf threads the last few years you would know that anytime someone asked about a course, LaTour was commonly tossed out as the best around.

FWIW it was the best in S La. RIP LaTour

La Tour is closed but for some reason they are still keeping it up ... Just take your sticks and hop on the course - you will have to walk and there are no flags but it's free .... Just don't get caught

If you come over to the Lake Charles area these are my favorites:

1. Koasati Pines (Coushatta Casino)
2. The Country Club (Golden Nugget Casino - Overpriced but very nice)
3. Gray Plantation - Good Value
4. The National - Great Value
5. Contraband Bayou (L'auberge Casino)

Gray Plantation and Golden Nugget in LC are solid options (but Nugget is overpriced imho).
Tamahka is a personal favorite in Central LA.
I enjoy Carter's layout but conditioning is always spotty especially in the spring where the grass seems to struggle.
TPC is solid if the price is right.
Our group often visits the Biloxi area where the courses are better and prices are great in the summer time.

Black Bear (Delhi) and Links (Alexandria) are good... Tamahka (Marksville) has gone to crap over the last two years...

Kosati Pines (Kinder) is solid. If you are willing to spend some money, you can play at Lauberge Du Lac (Lake Chuck)
