Team is 32-2. 15-0 in district. Will they be able to knock off mighty Barbe for a state title? Edit. So now in semis. Any scoop on other 3 teams left?

Kinda wish they would've dropped one this week. Baseball is baseball. You will lose, it's inevitable. 3 of the 5 rounds in the LHSAA playoffs are 1 game, single elimination. Anything can happen in a single baseball game. Even the worst teams in the history of MLB won games.

Barbe will bunt them to death, throw some crafty lefty with a ++ curve & change up, and run the bases like an MLB team. And have Fr &soph that play like Srs. Good luck with that

That's what happened in the 2nd game of the year. Barbe with 1 earned run beat WM 3-1.

Of course it's possible but they've already seen Barbe once this year...and lost.

Goree is really good for Barbe, but has been out with arm soreness. I'm sure that won't matter in the playoffs. He will be back and he will pitch as long as needed. WM's ace, Booth, is 9-0 with a sub 1 ERA.
ETA: Neither of those guys will likely pitch in a matchup of these two teams though. They won't play until the finals, if they both make it. It would take a lot of balls to not pitch your ace in the semifinals which is the day before the finals.

Barbe is the pinnacle, the gold standard. Until someone beats them, they will always be the favorites deservedly so. I'd never bet against them. They're just too good fundamentally. Players come and go, but the system stays and they continue to roll.

There is a chance Barbe's ENTIRE district will make the playoffs, the district was THAT good this year. I think the last power ratings had 3 teams from Barbe's district in the top 4 seeds (Barbe, Sam Houston, and Acadiana).
West Monroe has as good of a hitting lineup as there is in 5A. They will go far. Not sure what competition they have faced this year but their record is outstanding.

5 out of 6 of 2-5A will make the playoffs. Not as stout as 3-5A by any stretch of the imagination though. Far and away the toughest district in the state.
