I've heard Arnie is not doing too great health wise, hope he gets well soon.

Safe to say horse for the course goes to Matt Every this week. Although Stenson and Kokrak seem to like the track.

arnie's 86, so hope he recovers from whatever ails him ...

arnie's the most influential golfer ever ... hogan and his modern swing/practice ethic might be 2nd, but arnie single-handedly created the financial status of the pga tour ... so the poster that stated tiger is the most influential needs to remo - get a clue ...

on a side note, the 2nd place finish on the european tour (i know several saw this) this past week was piya swangarunporn ... hit the sweet spot enough but couldn't get it up and down enough, apparently ...

also, notice that it's the "arnold palmer invitational presented by" mastercard ... nice move by the pga/mc to allow his name to lead, as they've done for years ...

Have to go with Adam Scott. He's playing great golf. Everything is working for him.

If Stenson could learn how to putt I'd back him every single week. Along with Adam Scott, Boo Weekley and a few others he's in the category of "world class ball striker with a hot and cold flatstick."

Stenson will never get it right on the greens.

He's 99% torque. The other 1% is horses.

Read a pretty interesting article yesterday about the "moneyball" approach to golf. I'll link it when I can get to a computer.

I don't know much about those types of offshore accounts. I've heard of account freezes, etc. with some of the old poker sites. Wouldn't surprise me one bit.

I thought you bet with them, or maybe you just use their lines.

Anyways, carry on.

Amen to that!

I dont agree with this. While Arnie definitely brought the game more to the masses it was Tiger who brought the big money. Sponsorships and TV money came pouring in and any tournament who could entice Tiger to play was sure to reap the financial benefits. The weeks when Tiger sat out TV ratings tanked and attendance was usually poor. Most pros who are playing today will readily admit that it was Tiger who brought the big purses and sponsorship money that they are getting today.

Tiger affected the overall compensation of top golfers more than anyone else in the history of golf. I think it'd be hard to argue that point.

That's exactly what Arnie did too. He came along right when TV was starting to broadcast golf tournaments and he was the perfect personality for the medium. Ratings increased dramatically and the money flowed. It's just that the "big money" back then doesn't seem like big money now. Tiger did it again in the late 90's but it was Arnie who did it first.
