The first projection has come out and it is not pretty for the MVC. They of course have the MVC playing each other. The same BS job the MVC gets is what they did to the SLC, putting Sam and McNeese in bracket.

But here is the kicker, they have the SLC and MVC facing off in Qtrs. I think the projection right now is garbage.

North Dakota/South Dakota State winner at No. 1 seed Illinois State

Southern Utah/Sam Houston State winner at No. 8 seed McNeese State

Duquesne/Eastern Kentucky winner at No. 5 seed Chattanooga

Charleston Southern/James Madison winner at No. 4 seed North Dakota State

Dayton/Eastern Illinois winner at No. 3 seed Portland State

Bethune-Cookman/The Citadel winner at No. 6 seed Eastern Washington

Fordham/Coastal Carolina winner at No. 7 seed Richmond

Colgate/William & Mary winner at No. 2 seed Jacksonville State

Apparently 3 Montana players have been arrested for Felonies on a Residential Burglary.

They are being held 50,000 bond.

If they send Sam Houston St. to McNeese, that's absolute horse shite.

The ADs of both schools and the commissioner should ensure that doesn't happen.

Not surprising to me. That's what you get when they try their best to make "regional" matchups. Thisnwould be at least 2 years they have set up for the SLC to either cut themselves down to 1 or both be eliminated early.

If anything, they should be trying to avoid early round matchups. If we beat Sam Saturday, I don't want to see them again a month from now. That might sound crappy, but rematches tend to favor the losing team. They have more to learn from a loss than a winner does from a win. What happened to doing things like we saw back in the early 2000s? They clearly didn't care about travel when Montana, Montana State, and Villanova all had to travel to Lake Charles. I was at 2 of those 3 games (my first college football games to ever attend). Great games. I know Northern Arizona came in back in 2007, but that's been 8 years now.

You know there is a problem with getting fans in the stands when the University is actively publicizing everything they can to get fans in the stands on a Saturday night.

There should be no reason for this. For goodness sake, we have a Top 10 Matchup with the Southland Conference Title on the line.

The best we can hope for is no rain on Saturday night. If it rains, attendance will be terrible. I expect it to already be poor attendance since all of the casual fans will stay home or at their tailgate to watch LSU/Bama.

For all the knocking some other schools' fan bases in the conference get, McNeese has to have one of the worst. Majority of fans just don't care. We have a Top 10, undefeated team, and no one shows up.

Any other week and this game is at capaciously. Unfortunately, McNeese has to deal with a fanbase that largely supports two teams. When they compete in the same time slot, you get this situation. Its not ideal, but that's the reality.

Bethune Cookman is inthe MEAC. Don't they ignore the playoffs to play the SWAC champion?

I understand that the LSU-Bama gametime wasn't confirmed until last week, but the powers that be at McNeese should have seen this coming and scheduled an afternoon game. I understand that locals in LC should support the home team, but that is another argument for another day. The fact is that people are going to watch the LSU game and McNeese should embrace it and adjust the time rather than schedule a game at the same time and then huff and puff that people should watch their game. No reason you can't please the people that want to watch both games. Head to head- except for the 5-6K MSU diehards- people will opt to watch LSU. I don't like it either but that is the way it is.

When the 9-6 game was played, McNeese moved it to 2 pm.

McNeese has a similar tradition to LSU whereas they like to play at night. Every home game is scheduled for 6 unless it's preempted by TV.

The game is on ESPN3, so that may something to do with it, but I doubt it.

Problem is, the game is on ESPN3. You can't just move games around anymore. I don't believe there has been a McNeese game this year that wasn't covered by TV in some form or fashion. The days of moving games at will are gone.

And if anyone honestly believes moving this game up would make a difference, they don't know this fanbase. The same weekend that Southeastern came to town was the South Carolina game. Not exactly LSU/Bama. There were 13k in the stands. Not bad, but considering there was very little overlap between the two games, it should not have been a hindrance.

This fanbase just isn't what it was. We played 6 home games in 2010, and the attendance was 68k. Of that, 19k was at the Lamar game, which I believe was our first matchup with them in 20+ years, so there was probably a fair amount of that crowd from the Beaumont area.

I suppose averaging 13k is not bad considering what other schools have. Hell, that crowd couldn't fit in Coastal Carolina's stadium. But it just looks bad when you have a stadium that holds 17k plus, and has had over 19k on more than a few occasions, and you are drawing less than 12k a game.

I would be surprised if we have 12k for this game. Especially if it rains.

The problem is not the game time. The problem is the fans that want to hitch their wagon to a major program instead of supporting their school. The younger crowd (my generation) is the problem. There will be no fanbase in 10-15 years, because the people graduating now are too concerned with LSU. They walk around campus wearing LSU colors. They don't go to the games.

The student section sucks now compared to when I was in school. We used to fill up 2 whole sections along the wall, and there were students up into the general admission section above us. Now they don't even fill up the lower sections. And most of the students that filled it up when I was there don't attend games anymore.

I'm not the perfect fan, we've missed a few home games this year because of scheduling conflicts. But we still do our best to show up and support the team, especially with big games like this one.

It wouldn't matter if LSU were playing Eastern Michigan this weekend. The "fans" still wouldn't be in Cowboy Stadium.

If McNeese gets SHSU at home in the second round I can suck it up and be a Cowboys fan for the night. Nothing makes me more happy than seeing all those illiterate prison guards pissed off.

It's a problem at SLU as well.

I was impressed with what I saw at McNeese a few weeks ago, didn't realize it used to be a notably bigger function.

SLU attendance has been poor this season, and it will only get worse the final two home games. Comes with the territory when the territory includes LSU being 45 minutes away.

Considering Southeastern has an offense that can't get out of its own way coupled with the game kicking off only an hour before LSU/Bama, I expect almost no one in the stands Saturday.

Beginning this year, they've forfeited their autobid for the Celebration Bowl vs the SWAC champion. However, that doesn't prevent an at-large bid for a team not participating in the Celebration Bowl.

Now this was obviously 13 years ago, at the height of the program, but the Montana and Montana State games were literally standing room only. This was before the field house was there, and it was basically a hill. That hill, and the one where the scoreboard sits, were filled with people. The stands were maxed out. Greatest thing I've ever personally been a part of, and I was 13 at the time.

I don't know if we will ever see anything like that again, but I think the attendance that year was over 100k at home.

There was a point in time that I don't think a team in the country wanted to go into Cowboy Stadium. It was not an easy place to win. Still isn't, but to me, it's lost part of its glory. It's not the same environment anymore. When those Cowbells get going, when that place is rocking, it is awesome.

Now, it's just a cliche of every college football tradition. Jump Around. Enter Sandman. Zombie Nation (remixed, which isn't terrible). It seems like they've done it all the past few years.

You don't see the Christopher Walken "More Cowbell" skit anymore. Loved that, that got the place rockin on 3rd down. No more, "That's good for another Cowboy" from the announcer, and the whole crowd answers "FIRST DOWN"!

Most noticeable difference this year has been no mystery rider, and I have never seen why we haven't had him. The intro this year is even weak (the guy rhymes the whole time).

At the end though, I still support that team. I've never been to a college football game not involving McNeese. I've watched LSU since I was little, but McNeese is my team. Just a shame to not see the support from Lake Charles. A college town that has historically not supported the college. The past few years have gotten better with a lot of businesses supporting the school, and "Geaux Blue" fridays, but it doesn't really show in the stands. Maybe its wishful thinking hoping that the stands will be filled to capacity for big games like this.

It's a bigger thing than football to me though. The football games are just a symbolism of the support that school gets in general. You have the people dedicated to the school, and then there are those that wouldn't even notice if it was gone tomorrow. They would just go on wearing their purple and gold.

I never saw a mystery rider anytime we went to McNeese to play them. But then again I was not worried about what was going on in the stands or sidelines.

I do remember getting cussed out by a 6 or 7 year old though.

My worst was being spit on at Jax St., that was uncalled for as I did not do anything to the drunk frat guy.

At Liberty, they threw hotdogs and Skittles at us all game.
