I'm excited for him that he got drafted in the 1st round but I hate he went to the Panthers. This is bad. Now we have to deal with him twice a year.

Congrats. I really like Butler, would have loved him on the Saints, but 12 may have been too high. He's going to do really well in Carolina...unfortunately

This marks the fifth time a Louisiana Tech player has been drafted in the first round of the National Football League Draft and the first since Troy Edwards went to the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 13th overall selection in the 1999 NFL Draft. Other first round Louisiana Tech picks include Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw (Pittsburgh Steelers) in the No. 1 overall pick in 1970, Hall of Fame tackle Willie Roaf (New Orleans Saints) with the No. 8 overall pick in 1993 and receiver Roger Carr (Baltimore Colts) with the 24th overall pick in 1974.
His name gets added to the long list of defensive linemen that current Louisiana Tech defensive line coach Rick Petri has had selected in the NFL Draft. Butler marks the fourth lineman to be selected in the first round alongside Kelvin Pritchett Dallas, 1991), Warren Sapp (Tampa Bay, 1995), Kenard Lang (Washington, 1997) and Kenny Holmes (Houston, 1997).

most wanted a DE with either Dodd or Ogbah
others really are high on Hunter Henry and bringing back the two TE threat Cam had his rookie season
but yeah most wanted a DE of some sort. then again everyone knows Gettleman will stack certain positions with picks and yet every year people complain about it
