Lee, whose favorite horse was Traveller.
At the rally, according to the student newspaper the Daily Trojan, Saphia Jackson, co-director of the USC Black Student Assembly, asked students not to be quiet, and reminded that “white supremacy hits close to home” and referenced the name of the Trojans mascot.
The Black Student Assembly did not respond to requests for comment, but questions about the name’s provenance have increased on social media in the midst of the national discussion on race.

what you are seeing is evidence that targeting a symbol, however meaningless that symbol is, is much easier than targeting real world problems.
Plus if you went after real world problems that would actually make a difference in improving anyone's quality of life, you wouldn't get to pat yourself on the back for being so progressive.

People in positions of power probably think all they have to give up is an inch then it'll make them look better and everyone will be happy.
They're wrong. The people they are catering to will by design never, ever, be satisfied. And they are only partially right about it making them look better, because eventually the outraged will demand their heads too. It really is just a matter of time.

Nothing will come out of this, it's just some dumbass girl complaining. But as usual, there's the media trying to make a story of it. The L.A. times should be ashamed of themselves.
