at a certain point the women's defense would be terrorized by a speedy winger or 2 and would have to play 10-11 back
if the major women's team played the major men's team, all 11 would be back and likely standing in front of goal with their arms at their sides trying to block shots

well a lot depends on the women team's strategy.
If they try to play to win the game and attacking, it's going to get ugly real fast.
If they are just trying to limit the damage they can keep it "close" and only lose 8,10-0

quote:like in hoops, if the men were to go all out with pressure, the women would rarely make it past half court/midfield.
more like a 30-0 blowout if the men played hard all game

Men would name their score regardless of the women's strategy. As long as they were trying.

My friend was one step below the men's U-15 team and said a back-up forward on the 1999 team was a bit better than him at the time.
I think U-15/16 would beat the USWNT. U-11 for Barca is too young. I'd go U-14, so essentially very good 8th graders. I look at a player like Tobin Heath and she is every bit as skilled as any 5'6" 120 pound person in the world. It's just that those don't really exist in men's soccer, as even the tiniest guys are 30 pounds heavier like Stoch, Giovinco, etc.

Just FYI, Lionel Messi is about an inch taller and 15-20 pounds heavier (per my very quick google search).

two anecdotal stories of this sort of game actually happening are
1. Around 2007 the German women's team, coming off two straight world cups wins and a clear number one in the world, played the official German U-17 boys team in a closed doors scrimmage. The story goes the boys were winning so badly at halftime that they just called the game. It was like 5 or 6 to 0 i think.
2. The other is the famed 99' USWNT played a regional high school all-star team before the 99 WC. Wherever they were training, no idea what part of the country that was, they rounded up some of the best high school players in the region and formed a team for just one game. So this was a team with no chemistry, had never played together, and was just based on high school performances. It wasn't a nationally cultured and picked official u-18 national team or anything like that. The regional high school all-star team beat Hamm, Lily, Foudy and crew 3-0.

The USA U-17 team beat the USWNT 8-2 two or three years ago.

Wouldn't be as much scoring as an Aggy on a farm or anything, but 50-0 is about right.

I was an average soccer player in high school. A good defender but no dynamo. Our girls team had a lot of success in their respective division. We scrimmaged them once for some reason, and our coach made defenders play offense and visa versa...I scored 10 goals. 7 on set piece headers. I was scoring on accident. Every time i tried to not score they would bitch at me.
The gap between the sexes really cannot be overstated in terms of athletics.

The women would win. The guys would be trying to hit on Alex Morgan the whole time.

50+ to nothing...Hope Solo could not stop the power shots and the set pieces would be easy.....

This story instantly made me think of the dream team losing to Webber, Hurley, Hill, Mashburn, etc before the Barcelona games. Of course game 2 was a different story
