Maybe if we did a Men's basketball pick up game at halftime of our games maybe people will show up? Will you?

Kenan Memorial Stadium
63,000 (2011-present)

Week 2: Attendance: 44,000
Week 3: Attendance: 41,000

Honestly, UNC should probably quit football before the crushing sanctions come down ruining their athletic department. Plus they don't want to suffer another 35-7 embarrassment come November.

They're 2-1 and should be 3-0. I'd be pissed too if I was Howard. That's an absolute joke that only 44,000 showed up.

Sounds to me like they overestimated the market.

That's a great way to alienate a fan base.

Maybe it's more a case of UNC fans calling out their football team for being a shitty team. I mean, they lost to a terrible SC team. They won against Illinois and NC A&T (who LOL), but those are nobody opponents that's not gonna draw a ton of fan interest. It goes both ways.

Yea, if LSU had a couple games where only like 70k fans showed up and Fournette called out the fans, it would be pretty embarrassing and probably make some people feel guilty. I doubt it would make too many people mad or feel alienated. Because the message makes a good point.

shite, if LSU cant get good attendance for the PMAC this year i"d love for Ben Simmons to call people out with something similar about football.

Yeah but UNC doesn't have a guy like fournette to draw a crowd or rich history in football

A better comparison is when no one shows up to see Ben Simmons play.

Btw, saw Ben Simmons walking around campus Saturday guy is thicker than I thought he would be. He isn't bowed up or anything but has some muscle for sure.

College football is nonexistent in North Carolina. I'd say App. State and East Carolina have the best football fan bases in the state. I've quit asking my NC State and UNC coworkers who they play this weekend because they never know.

Triangle football is very mediocre, attendance-wise. UNC did not even look to have 30k, and the students were noticeably absent.

Bent to all three stadiums for rivalry games. Unimpressed with all of them. Only slightly better than a firework game at San Diego State (PS, that is very bad)

Well after their QB intentionally threw the South Carolina game, I can't really blame their fans.

I think the last expansions was only 3 K or so so high 50's should be a reasonable number.

North Carolina is a basketball state and UNC is very much a basketball school. 44,000 out of 63,000 isn't too bad at all for the second fixture sport. They aren't even good and haven't played anyone noteworthy.

44K is about what I think would be the average for UNC.

With the Carolina Panthers, I believe this takes away some of the pop for college football in the state of NC.
But, it's really a factor of college basketball reigns supreme.
So much history of basketball of the 4 ACC (maybe not so much Wake Forest ) NC schools, it's just what those folks grew up with.
Bring on a winner and perhaps you'll see a change in fan attitude.

this . The kid should have tried to get a scholarship to Arkansas if he wanted to play for a sub par team in from of 70k fans.

You can most definitely include Wake Forest in that
