In October 2014, Kenneth L. Wainstein, a former federal prosecutor hired by the university to investigate academic fraud reported by the media, issued a 131-page report showing at least 3,100 students took "paper" classes with artificially high grades over an 18-year period, and athletes were funneled to these classes by academic advisers. Wainstein reported that varsity athletes made up 1,871, or roughly half, of the enrollment, with the men's basketball team accounting for 12.1 percent (226) the athletes.Although two former UNC football coaches admitted knowing that a lot of students took the classes, there is no evidence the coaches knew the classes were irregular, and Williams denied knowledge (Dean Smith and Bill Guthridge, Williams' predecessors, were not interviewed because of poor health).

This is the only part that mentions the mens basketball program. And it's a very very small amount over "18yrs". And all they could find evidence of, was that the academic advisors (not coaches) steered them to take the classes to stay eligible. That shite happens all over the country, and at every damn school with an athletic program. Just like paying players.

12% is not a small amount

Which is a clear NCAA violation.

And that was not all they could find evidence of

Here's some evidence:

quote:

Rashad McCants, the second-leading scorer on the North Carolina basketball team that won the 2004-05 national title, told ESPN's "Outside the Lines" that tutors wrote his term papers, he rarely went to class for about half his time at UNC, and he remained able to play largely because he took bogus classes designed to keep athletes academically eligible.

quote:

cCants told "Outside the Lines" that he could have been academically ineligible to play during the championship season had he not been provided the assistance. Further, he said head basketball coach Roy Williams knew about the "paper class" system at UNC. The so-called paper classes didn't require students to go to class; rather, students were required to submit only one term paper to receive a grade.

quote:

McCants also told "Outside the Lines" that he even made the dean's list in the spring of 2005 despite not attending any of his four classes for which he received straight-A grades. He said advisers and tutors who worked with the basketball program steered him to take the paper classes within the African-American Studies program.

I've admitted Roy isn't clean.

I've admitted that the NCAA has never found evidence that Men's basketball coach Roy Williams during his time at UNC, or at KU ran or currently runs a dirty program. That is what I go by.

If you want to go along the lines that every program is dirty to an extent, i'll agree with that. EVERY program has or currently paid players and done whatever they can to keep players eligible and on the playing field.

That's ok not to admit he's dirty. I know deep down you know it.
