Further, Tech wanted in I-Bowl on Thursday night, no matter the opponent.

Where are you getting your information from? I'm getting mine from players and people working for the football team. So I'm calling out your "factual misinformation"
What I was told by them is they turned down the I-bowl and this was over a week ago. Whether that means they turned down the official offer or made it clear that we wouldn't accept I'm not 100% positive.. All I know is it wasn't much of a surprise to the students/faculty that we aren't going to the I-bowl. Tech has said all along that we want to go to a different bowl and not many people want to go back to Shreveport. It is unfortunate but Tech will probably have a bigger turn out at the HOD than the I-bowl.

And pardon my ignorance, but why would he be upset about them turning down the I-bowl? Is he a sponsor for that bowl or something?

He's the CEO of Advocare and they sponsor the Indy Bowl

Nice splitting of hairs. You could work in my former law firm.
How long have you served on a bowl committe? I would like share notes with you as I have only done it a few years.
I don't disagree regarding TECH going to HOD, my issue is with the outright lies and false statements being made in this tread.

BTW - HOD will be on ESPNU and going to up against Capital One and Outback. No matter the bowl, Tech needs to show up in force. The same has to be said for ULM.

I've never changed my position. Fact is we turned it down before it was offered to ULM in hopes of getting a better bowl. That's all there is to it. Whether it was the official offer or we made it clear we wouldn't accept doesn't change the outcome or that there are a bunch of misguided people on this board. If ULM would have declined, neither LA school would be going.

Honestly though, who would watch two Louisiana schools play each other in a bowl other than Louisiana residents and TD?

With your logic...tech would also decline a chik-fil-a bowl because its in December and not Jan?

Idk how any tech person gets their info here and I didn't want to say but I'm closer to the situation than anyone in this thread. We turned down Indy Tuesday and with OU and K-State winning, We expect HOD to offer.

My information is unfiltered. Richard Wright is no James Davidson, but he is a big deal. CEO of Advocare.

HOD had a higher payout than independence last year. You dont know that the payout will be higher this year.

Better than a 2 PM start on a work day

^
see above.

Also:
(1) We have already played in Shreveport once this year. That stadium sucks

(2) Playing a team 15 miles down the interstate isnt much fun for the players

(3) ULM fans seem really upset. Did you think you were finally gonna get your chance to beat up big brother?

the chick-fil-a bowl pays a little more money I believe.... My point is the bigger bowl Tech fans are talking about pays less than the Indy bowl!

The indy bowl has 2.3 mill payout and dallas has 2.2 mill.

Tech won't get the full HOD payout and ULM won't get the full Indy payout. If you go to a bowl where you aren't conference affiliated, you don't get the full payout.
