If Rashad loses to Hendo, will he be cut?
Posted on 5/21/13 at 4:24 pm to USMC Gators
Rashad is too big of a name to be cut. Dana will feed him some can at MW when Rashad drops down to keep him around.

Card is retardedly stacked. I'll be watching the entire card including Facebook prelims.
Posted on 5/21/13 at 5:45 pm to bubbz
There are big names on this card, but hard for me to consider this card "stacked" considering the main event/co main event. Bigfoot was destroyed by Cain the first time they fought and well on his way to losing to Overeem before connecting to Reem's glass jaw. I don't see this second fight with Cain being very competitive.
And I love Mark Hunt and hope he pulls the upset. But up to last fight, Dana was pretty much laughing at the thought of Hunt vs the top few fighters of the division. And it's not like Hunt has a strong resume' when he steps up in competition. Again, I hope he wins. But there is a very good chance JDS shows everyone what Hunt really is... a one dimensional fighter.
I guess I consider this card a stacked undercard with big names in the main events, but not necessarily competitive main events (if what I think happens actually occurs).

While I hear what you're saying and somewhat agree, how competitive was JDS/Cain 1? With that being said, Bigfoot will probably get smashed again, but you never know

Maybe so. But the difference between JDS & Hunt is that we KNOW hunt is one dimensional. JDS hasnt shown much ground fighting yet, but he does have grappling in his background (isn't he a BJJ black belt under big Nog?). Maybe he just never uses it because he has been able to rely on his striking for so long. So we don't really know how one dimensional JDS is until he has to use that BJJ. IF (and that's a big "if") JDS does actually have some sort skill on the ground and/or more diversity in his striking skills that he hasn't shown, you kinda have to assume this will be the fight that he shows more than just boxing.
Anyways, I think we'll all agree that the only chance Hunt has is that JDS really is just as one dimensional and he tries to stand and box with Hunt. JDS should know that too and should at least try to show something different if he has it.

Hunt has a puncher's chance in this fight. Have you watched JDS vs Carwin/Big Country? JDS picked them apart with his excellent boxing. I don't see this fight being any different.

I agree with this. But that is the only way Hunt can win - if JDS tries to box with him and ends up getting caught. Everyone knows this, including JDS. So this "might" be the fight JDS shows a little more diversity in his game other than straight boxing (if he even has something else to offer, that is).

Your previous post made it sound like JDS had a disadvantage on his feet when, in fact, we were just saying the same thing.

Matt Serra has announced his retirement. Mark Laimon is crying somewhere.
Posted on 5/22/13 at 4:23 pm to ScrapPack
I thought he retired a long time ago. Looks like Moussasi is calling out Vitor Belfort now
Posted on 5/22/13 at 5:18 pm to CunningLinguist
Mousasi/Vitor would be very interesting (at MW or LHW?), but I'd think Vitor vs. Anderson 2 in Brasil has got to happen next unless Anderson loses in a couple weeks, or moves up/down to challenge JJ/GSP for their belt

Agreed again. It will be interesting to see what Junior does and if he decides to take this fight to the canvas. Bigfoot has some really underrated bjj and I'd love to see him catch Cain in some sub off his back. That'd really throw the HW division into a doozy

I asked this in the other thread about Barnett...how come his "win" over Randy wasn't changed to a nc?

After his awesome decision against a sparring partner on short notice.

failed the steroids test

He was stripped of the title but got to keep the win. It should've been changed to a nc.

He did take Carwin down a couple of times late in their fight just to show that he could. He is supposed to have some pretty good BJJ as well.
