School is responsible regardless. He is covered because it happened while he was a UCLA student athlete in a sanctioned event.

The school will bill his personal insurance though for as much as they can. It is the way that Training rooms make money these days to get new supplies.

By scouts? Or fans/talking heads?

by both to a degree, when i say forgotten, i don't literally mean they won't remember who he is, but they will not put as much weight on film and accolades from Sept of 2015 in April of 2017 as we are right now if there is literally nothing in between. You are thinking in terms of what we know right now, but we are talking about a draft 18-20 months from now, that is a lot of time to just sit around and work out and not play games, make reads, get hit etc, etc.

Unless we have a crop of running backs with Adrian Peterson hype, I don't think this matters.

Who is making those comparisons scouts or fans and media?

Correct. But most kids have very little insurance to begin with.

Ehhhh I don't think it's that risky, worst case scenario he doesn't get drafted, eventually is out of the NFL, he can always come back and finish his education later

Says a lot about his character. Shows how much he cares about the team.

Other benefit of rehab and training full time. No need to worry about exams

because I am suuuuuuure his academic program was extremely strenuous and he worried a lot about exams before

example of the farce of the "student"-athlete in a lot of cases

Myles Jack is out for the year with a knee injury...how is this "shitty of him"?

He's part of a team. He's leaving the team. He's CLEARLY putting himself in front of the team. That's what makes it shitty.

I think he is actually being responsible for his future and it allows for him to go see people of his choosing for rehab.

The fact that it benefits him doesn't really change my point. You seem to be unable to separate what's good for him with what's important to the team.

But, I agree it does benefit him and is a smart decision relative to his future.

In reality, he has nothing to offer the team. All of that moral support stuff that you're going to mention, he doesn't have to actually be on the team to support them.

I'll present you with the same hypothetical I presented another poster.

Let's say you're a junior QB that most draft experts think is going to be drafted #1 overall. Would you come back for your senior season?

I wouldn't.

You just don't believe in the concept of team.

His decision is rational. I understand why he did it. And, I see the benefit to him.

In my opinion, a player like Myles Jack still serves a purpose and is valuable in the locker room.

What about 0 junior year games???

A little bit different

Jackson has played a number of different positions and there are only a handful of games with tape as a LB

That being said, I think he would be a good late round pick

You would think you would at least stay in school to rehab as that part would be covered by the university.

That's what I was thinking. At least have the school pay for your rehab.

Pretty sure the school pays your medical expenses either way if you were injured participating in team exercises.

I am 99.9999% positive they cleared his locker out already soon as they said done for the year. I would have. There is no reason for him to have pads, hats, etc now. He would not have been on any road trips, as they can't afford to lose a roster spot. He would not go to meetings. He won't be required to be at practice, just to treatment.

He is basically off the team already. He just said screw the classwork let me go rehab.

He'll still be around the team. I'd bet he even works out at the facilities all semester. He just isn't going to school anymore. I doubt Mora will just dump the kid.

He may not be at every practice, but I would bet he'll be around plenty for "support".

Sure I can. But, your logic is obviously flawed and certainly to my comments about the "middle of the season".

Well, if he's really still a part of the team and this is just a technical thing then sure, it's no big deal.

But, he if he's completely walking away from the program so that he can put his personal goals ahead of his team's then I think that's kind of crappy.
