Why uptown? Its still to far for students to walk. Put the damn thing down by Regions and railroad and make a true entertainment district instead of 5 small pockets of fun. City of Bham listen up-Uptown isnt happening, stop trying to make uptown happen.

You think they're building this just for UAB? That would be beyond stupid.

Love how the design points out the Social Security Building along with the hotels and entertainment district.

classic Birmingham

55k is too big. cut down on the upper deck corner seats. 40k should be the target.

UAB would be better off starting off at around 30K and work their way up depending on success

How often would they get 40k in there?

UAB could find a lot of success if they branded themselves as "Graduate Transfer U"

get kids that cant find playing time at Bama and other SEC schools.

What a stupid idea. 55k seats? They better buy a lot of tarps.

Let's see how many of these "outraged" UAB fans actually show up to games before they build a stadium larger than most Big 12 stadiums. I'm betting they get a big surge of attendance the first few games and then it goes back to 10k or less.

I agree with the general consensus that 55k is too many seats for UAB, but I would like to see the Birmingham Bowl moved there. Legion field is such a terrible stadium and in a shite area.

Why so big?!? Before UAB football was shutdown they were averaging a couple thousand a game....they should follow Tulane's model & propose a small, urban stadium (25,000-30K) max with areas to expand if needed. This sketch is absurd & unrealistic

Sad I only have one upvote to give. Everyone was all excited when the development was announced. Heck, I work a few blocks from there, and thought it sounded nice. But it sucks.

I'm not sure any stadium would be feasible by Regions field though. They're working on new condos around there, and Good People is across the street. And there is already a plan in place and work begun on a series of trails that will connect Railroad with one already built along 20th street. They might be able to build it across the tracks, but not sure how they would even fit something to seat 30k in that space.

UAB should build a 30k seat stadium on or adjacent to their campus so that students can walk to it. They're not even going to sell that out unless they somehow get an SEC opponent to come there. Even when Troy had Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Mizzou, and a few others come to Troy, they barely scratched 25k.

Why aren't they playing at Legion? It already there, why not just renovate that?

And? Why should they be the only D1 school that plays in that bad of a stadium? If they can afford to build it with Clark coaching there they'll start winning
