Let me preface this by stating that I'm not some upset LSU fan looking to flame Benny. Serious questions.

1) What position will Simmons play in the league? I know he can play at least the 2-4, but I assume he'll play the 3 for the most part.

2) If he does indeed play the 3, won't he need to develop his jumper to become elite? I know the 3 is more of a slasher position, but even Blake has somewhat developed a jump shot.

Just asking b/c I've never seen an elite talent like him pass on so many open shots.

This year didn't really work out for any number of reasons but Ben still chose to be a Tiger. Good luck going forward Benny boy.

He cannot play the 3. He is not good enough on defense to guard small forwards in the league, obviously he can't shoot well enough either.

He'll play the 4 and hopefully develop a free throw line jumper. His vision and passing skills are great but needs to develop any kind of shot asap along with some defensive skills.

You obviously know nothing about Ben Simmons and have only read misinformation about him.

Simmons can easily play the 3 on defense. He's more than fast enough, quick enough, and strong enough.

Simmons also has a very good jump shot. Just bc he doesn't run out there and jack up 20 jumpers a game doesn't mean he is incapable.

Ben will play 1-4 positions.

I see his ceiling being about Michael Beasley level.

He may start as a 3, especially since he will probably be on a bad team, but he will be most effective and play the most at 4 IMO. He seems like a hard working kid so he will have a jump shot eventually.

He doesn't shoot jump shots because "he can get to the rim and finish anytime he wants"

He just doesn't have the want very often though I guess

I agree with everything except what's bolded I guess. Watching his film coming in I would have agreed with you. Maybe he does have a good shot, but his confidence plummeted?

I watched lots of LSU and he never even considered taking 2 point jump shots it seemed. LSU didn't need him taking 20 of them you're right, but he hardly took any.

I guess I'm just confused b/c he does seem capable, but for whatever reason, he did not take them.

He can play pg like Magic. He already has the no look pass and behind the back pass.

I always thought of him as a swing man with the ability to play the four in spurts if a team wants to go smaller and uptempo. He is undoubtedly put on more muscle though once in the league so he might play the four full time.

He's almost certainly going to play the 4.

It's better to play up (if you can), than to play down.

Has the ability to be an outstanding defender. Depends on how much effort he decides to give.

i was going to respond with, "maybe so, but he has little to no moves on the block"....but hell, it's 2016 and hardly any big in the NBA has a large repertoire of moves down there.

i know this was meant as some slight but beasley really wasnt that terrible and for a brief moment, people thought he was going to be good for a while. but still, lol no. ive been vocal in my opinion that ingram is the better pro prospect but ben simmons definitely has a higher ceiling than what beasley was

It's not a slight, I'm sure he'll be serviceable, but nothing close to the hype he was getting out of HS.

I'll stand by my belief that he will have a similiar career with similiar numbers as Beasely, unless he manages to be brought into a very good situation- like perhaps if he eventually found his way to the Spurs he would probably thrive.

Simmons can absolutely guard small forwards.
