As per Sportsnola.com

quote:

Fritz, 55, has spent the last two seasons at Georgia Southern, posting a 17-7 record and winning the Sun Belt Conference title last year. The Eagles, who joined the Sun Belt to move into the Football Bowl Subdivision, will play in their first-ever bowl game Dec. 23 in the GoDaddy Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.

quote:

Tulane considered Fritz as a candidate for the same job four years ago when Curtis Johnson was hired. Johnson was fired Nov. 28 after four seasons at the helm of the Green Wave.

Who will they go after in 2019 when this one doesn't pan out, either?

Fritz is legit

he's going to make them a much better team

if he leaves its b/c another team is stealing him away

and, most people said that Tulane had to go in this direction to get on track. Notice that I didn't say back on track.

Don't they run the triple option?

article points that out but also says that he's not "stuck" in that mindset.

No idea why he'd want to go to the graveyard of college football.

say what you want, but Tulane now plays in a power conference. It's a big step up from Georgia Southern.

*Let me re-say that. The AAC is right outside of the "Power 5". It was just 2 years ago that it was an auto bid to a BCS bowl.

Could be Les' replacement at LSU in a couple years if he's successful

They did not run it at Sam St with him there. He also at times would run some Single Wing Stuff (Spread) at Georgia Southern.

Some people are motivated by a challenge.

The only two years of his entire coaching career that he's ran it was the past two years, because that's the players that GSU had.

He'll run some version of the spread/read option at Tulane.

He's a good coach. Been a HC 19 years and has only had 2 losing seasons. Tulane needs to consider themselves a stepping stone school for the next several coaches.

Would you want LSU to hire someone that'll be 57 years old?

Need to gain solid footing under this coach first and hit a couple straight winning seasons

There was a real coaching deficit there the past two years. Fritz can put together a bowl team right away.
