Stanford

Said on the radio yesterday (WJOX) that Stanford had the best defense in the country and Stanford and Oregon are his #1 and #2 teams.

What has the pac 12 done to earn this idea that it's the strongest league?

Oregon over UT?

I honestly think the best Defense is Florida.

Which will make it that much better when LSU drops 35 on them saturday

The PAC-12 is definitely 2nd best but these guys are just aching for someone to dethrone the mighty SEC.

Who said they were the best league? Just because they have the current 1 and 2 teams does not make them the strongest league?

Bent out of shape and sensitive because he didn't say Bama is the best team in the NFL?

The numbers say it's between Michigan State and Florida.

If a SEC team makes the title game, the SEC team wins easily. The month off really benefits the defense.

It's not what they've done, it's what they haven't done. They haven't won 7 titles in a row making everyone in the media constantly try to be smarter than the room and predict the team that will dethrone the SEC. Matich is nothing more than a college football hipster. And hipsters are the worst kind of people.

Pac 12 is good though, but I don't think team made up entirely of tight ends and linebackers is the second best team in the country.

These are definitely the best defenses I've seen. Sucks for them they have horrible offenses.

As if Michigan St's offense were merely horrible.

Yeah, I'm not on a Bama pedestal but he said Stanford had the best 11 defensive guys in the country.

He's the one who said the Pac 12 was the toughest conference.

My point is we're 5 weeks into a season I don't see how you can actually believe Stanford has the best defense in the country. The stats don't support this, the "eyeball" test certainly doesn't support it. You can't tell me Stanford has a more athletic defense than LSU, Florida, Alabama.

I'm big on Stanford this year but you can't make these kind of claims when the past 7 years are clear evidence you're wrong. Now if they had a DE like Clowney or a DB like Patrick Peterson I'd at least give him a pass but their best defender is Skov and he's no world beater.

First of all, why did you throw in the word "athletic"? Athletic doesn't necessarily mean good.
And yes, Stanford's defense is waaaaayy better than LSU's crappy defense.

Because Matich made the claim that Stanford had the best 11 guys on defense, not just the best defense.

I'd normally agree, but I think LSU's D could neutralize Stanford.

And I think LSU's O would put up at least 38

Probably because they play well off of each other. Play as a unit rather than a collection of individuals.

Not that I agree with him.
