I pay zero attention to MLS, so this fricking shocks me.

Might you own a media or merchandising company?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say your lack of interest in Farmerville is completely irrelevant to the MLS business model.

Don’t let the sheer scale of the chart shroud the fact that these are real people. That’s not just 1,200 faceless men; it’s 1,200 migrant workers who traveled far from home and their families, were forced to surrender their passports and live in squalid conditions for subsistence-level wages, until their untimely deaths. Meanwhile, FIFA executives have allegedly pocketed hundreds of millions of dollars in bribes to make sure Qatar received the honor of hosting the World Cup.

The International Trade Union Confederation estimates that 4,000 workers will die in Qatar by the time 2022 arrives. FIFA corruption doesn’t even rate among legitimate reasons to boycott the World Cup.

God that's disgusting. what a fricking corrupt enterprise.

How realistic is it for the Cup to be pulled from Qatar as a host site at this point?

Nice condescension in your post. I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're a dick.

It really is. Most people were just able to laugh off Qatar getting the WC as just "FIFA gonna FIFA", but as details came out about the terrible working conditions, this went from a corruption issue to human rights issue.

I honestly have no idea, but I guess we won't know until we know what will happen to those that were arrested and FIFA holds their election for new president. Best case scenario is that all those scum bags are locked up and a new president strips Qatar of the WC and gives the bid to either us or England since we already have the infrastructure necessary.

Didn't think it was possible 24 hours ago but I think they end up with a re-vote after the dust settles and enough people are purged. The interesting thing would be who is it opened up for? Just the previous finalists? (Qatar, US, South Korea, Japan, Australia). We came in 2nd, which was obviously before the atrocities of the Qatar bid became more evident. I'd like our chances with the same field.

Amurica brought the lumber a lot of people have been waiting for. It's damn refreshing.

Not only that, but the fact that they denied Australia and then gave it to Qatar because they claimed they were going to cool air an insane amount for spectators and players with technology that doesn't exist at that scale and was never in development to begin with.

As a side note, it's really funny how upset the discussion of soccer has always made people on this board. It must kill you guys to know that soccer's here to stay, and you're only going to see more of it. If you're not careful, you may catch the gay through the TV.

They were planning to install massive air conditioners that are fueled by the blood of dead migrant workers.

All hope in that plan is not lost for the record.

Doesn't matter if it's the Summer or Winter. Liquid cooling powered by the blood of those in search of a better life for their families is something that they are committed to, and frankly, I can't fault their enthusiasm for the idea.

Hey, if you can explain why you guys come into the thread just to act like douches, I'll believe otherwise. At the end of the day, I don't go into NASCAR or MLB threads to say that I don't enjoy them. I don't give a shite. If you go out of your way to read something that you don't want to read and claim no one cares about, you're probably an idiot.

There is an allegation that this investigation was started in the U.S. because Bill Clinton was butthurt that Qatar out bribed America for the 2022 World Cup.
