Georgia doesn't belong. They're the typical mark right early season pretenders

They'll inexplicably get stomped by Florida or someone else and they'll lose a close one they should not. It's like a script they follow every year

It was one damn game, a game that they won. They are still a top 4 team

@ColinCowherd: U Conn gave Missouri---you know SEC Missouri---fits today. You're delusional if you don't see the conference is softest it's been in years

@ColinCowherd: So Auburn is now officially terrible. Can I have the updated list of SEC teams that aren't overrated.

His move to FS1 makes a lot more sense now.

This is a power rating. It isn't going to look kindly on beating northern Illinois by 7 points.

Eta: I'm not really a fan of FPI, but I'm not surprised that those are the top 4 teams in it. I much rather something like F/+ or S&P+ LINK

They have a strong front seven, a great coaching staff, one of the best running back tandems in the country, and an upperclassmen under center who might have turned the corner this past Saturday (then again, South Carolina might be one of the three worst teams in the conference).

Nick Chubb is a top three tailback and an all-around gamechanger who very well could singlehandedly win some games for them this year, just like Fournette.

If Lambert continues to progress then Georgia will most certainly be a contender in a very weak SEC East Division. We will know in two weeks, after the Alabama game, whether or not they are the real deal.

Ole Miss and UGA will finish with 2-3 losses each, it's what they do.

Bama looks ok, but they have no qb and a weak secondary.

LSU looks good, but they have no passing game and Les Miles is good to blow at least 1-2 games.

I'd have Michigan State, ND, LSU, and Ohio State as the top 4.

The FPI will always be signicantly more flawed early in the season because the initial aprori assumptions are based on previous seasons so the iterative process is dependent on that information until the current season's sample size increase.

So the Ole Miss win over Alabama win may well prove to be a win of the highest quality--which it is now--or Alabama may have a down year due to the QB situation and the win is of a lower quality.

Same with LSU's win over Auburn as Auburn does not look as good as the initial assumptions would have indicated.
