Todd McShay: Deshaun Watson is not a first round QB, 2017 QB class is scary bad

McShay also says Mitch Trubisky out of North Carolina is the only QB who might be worth a first round talent but he's worried about his lack of game reps as a starter (9 career starts). He would be best served returning for his senior year at UNC. Other than Trubisky, the top rated QB is ranked 88th on McShay's board. Yikes!

Has Todd ever been correct about how NFL prospects turned out? Watson ought to take that as a vote of confidence.

I think most NFL executives and scouts would prefer Todd McShay to lose his job.

Yes, he's right quite often. This narrative is played out on this board.

Or go ahead and tell me, without the McShay and Kiper types in the media building up the draft, you would have been all over Carson Wentz as a top 5 pick last year, right?

Well, the key question is what came first? Did the media types identify Carson Wentz first, or did NFL scouts identify Carson Wentz and the media types regurgitated it to their audience?

Chad Kelly will turn out alright I believe. Sons of ex-NFL players tend to miss less than others

That being said a lot of NFL execs and scouts should probably lose their jobs.

In December 2014, Kelly was arrested following an altercation outside of a Buffalo, New York nightclub in which he got into a fight with bouncers, reportedly threatened to return with an AK-47, and resisted arrest. His plea deal resulted in criminal charges being dropped in favor of a guilty plea to disorderly conduct and 50 hours of community service.[14]

Where have you been?

The story sounds way worse than the video, he's a drunk wanna be gangster screaming that he has a gun when it's clear he's a total phony

I would think with the way the NFL is with QBs somebody would take a shot at kelly in the first round based on talent alone

I'm in no way shape or form sticking up for Tod. But this isn't even close to the first time I've seen someone be down on Watson.

This is extreme for sure. But I've seen people rank Watson as the 3rd best QB prospect multiple times now.

I wouldn't take Watson in the 1st, but I also wouldn't have taken Dak in the 1st and he's the best qB out of last year's class as of now.

He's a complete idiot with an average to slightly above average arm. His judgement off the field isn't worth putting him on your team.

sure he has.

probably just as accurate as Mike Mayock. Mayock articulates so well that people take his words as gospel. No one ever consistently hits a homerun in the draft analysis.

McShay is a Espn blowhard so people don't like him naturally. His Jevan Snead take was awful but that's the risk you take in his line of work. His job is one of the easiest to critique for an internet bad arse.

that said, Watson could end being just fine if he isn't a 1ST round pick. Where a player gets picked doesn't define them.
