Wonder if his dad, who ruined him, is alive & if so, how does he feel about what he did to his son. Who, obviously is responsible for himself as an adult but his problems started as a teenager.

you may discover one day that every son (and dgt) ultimately make their own choices. parents make mistakes and sometimes severe ones but the responsibility for conforming to societies norms (as far as legal, work ethic, etc) to up to the individual. I have seen awfully bad parents end up with very good kids and vice versa. once a person hits 21-25 years it's time for their own brain to kick in and it usually does.

The Longhorns had a running back named Edwin Simmons who was caught naked and high in a West Austin woman's yard. I think he ended up selling cars.
