I wish I had all the numbers that they discussed on The Golf Channel last night but thats the one I remembered.

Keep in mind that those winnings probably pale in comparison to the amount he's made in sponsorships.

Based on his number of PGA starts and his total prize purse, thats what he's averaged per round.

I'd be curious to know who is in 2nd place career wise, and how wide the margin is.

He won his 78th tournament yesterday in his 300th start. That's just insane.

McIlroy at $65K/round
Mickelson $40k/round

Sample size may be a factor here, but:
Derek Ernst $45k/round
Lingmerth $35k/round

I was gonna say rory could be ahead of phil because of early success not as many tournaments and purses being worth a lot more than for a long part of Phils career

Lingmerth could have been quite a bit higher if he had parred 18

Cost him 300k I believe and that was his 13th start

Just with some quick math, I have Rory at 43K/round

A little over 29,200,000 in career earnings on both tours (through 2012)

169 starts on both tours, 676 rounds possible

ETA: Phil

69,864,000 in earnings

1812 possible rounds

38.5K/round

Right when he missed that first putt i said there goes 300K bc there was no way he was making that coming back. And I didnt count him missing the first putt as losing money because thats not a putt you should/could make.

I just guessed it was 300K

i think they said that a lone 2nd place finish would have been just over 1M, but since he fell into a 3-way tie, they all got 712K

I divided career pga tour earnings divided by actual # of rounds played on the pga tour (only counted 2 rounds/tournament if they missed the cut).

Blows my mind thinking one stroke cost him $300K.
