As a rookie? Later on? Where do you see him in 5 years?

Still too early to begin to predict where he will be in 5 years

However good he may end up being, I think it's clear the Lakers made a mistake selecting him at #2. Jahlil Okafor was the obvious choice given the Lakers have a back hole at center. The Lakers outsmarted themselves.

Very similar to Trey Burke, has better measurables though and he's a lefty so he wont be quite as bad.

Very early and he's only played for Byron but not super impressed so far.

He is too young and needed one more year in college. With that said, he will be a good player, just not an elite player.

He's in the worst situation possible for him right now. He hasn't been as bad as the internet would have you believe.

My thought is the Lakers should have drafted Okafor.

He is young. Havent been impressed with him at all. He will get better, but it wont be at an All-NBA level and that's what you expect to get from the #2 overall pick in the draft.

I was really hoping Minnesota was gonna pass on Towns with the 1st pick

Not sure if he will ever be a superstar but you can definitely see that he has the skill sets to be a good player for a long time. Kobe's unwillingness to come to grips with his basketball mortality is stunting the growth of Russell, Randle, and Clarkson. You simply can not run the offense through Kobe anymore and it is taking away from the young guys being able to develop their games.

All I know is the #1 priority for the Lakers should be to get rid of Byron Scott ASAP and replace him with someone that can develop Russell

Exactly. How is it that the best basketball league on the planet has so many terrible coaches? Byron may very well be the worst coach in the league.

He's in pretty much the worst situation possible for development. Byron Scott lets Kobe do whatever he wants but is super strict with the young guys

Scott has to go. How the frick this dude still has a job is beyond me.

Since last making the playoffs in 2009, he is 90-245, a winning percentage of 26.9%

He has been a head coach in the NBA for 15 different seasons and has finished with a winning record just 5 times.

He has ridding those back to back Eastern Conference titles in 02-03 into the ground and was able to milk a couple of extras jobs out of them

What a fricking clown show the Lakers organization has turned into

They only keep Scott to tank but they're seriously hurting guys like Randle and Russell. I know they want to keep their pick this year but are they going to ruin two former top-5 picks in order to do so? I'd much rather take my chances with my young guys. If they're good enough to get you out of top-3 contention, that should be a good thing.

The tank will be worth it if they can get Simmons

Simmons
Russell
Randle
Clarkson

That is a really good core group to build with

He needs a coach that will run an uptempo offense. I think the lakers passed on Okafor because
1. they didn't like the pairing of okafor and Randle defensively
2. Mitch knew he had the Hibbert trade to fall back on.
