But the media will say it was because they already decided it was.

They got it to 6-0 and then the bullpen choked. You think they're letting Strasburg go the distance when he was on an innings limit all year?

It's a dumbass move by the organization.

They didn't think they were going to be as good as they were this year, as soon as they realized this was going to be a special year, they still shut down their star pitcher.

Makes me happy to see them lose. You don't sit below mediocrity for fricking years and then not do the things necessary to help yourself when opportunities come.

You think they would be playing game 5 right now?

This chokejob makes the Reds chokejob look like child's play by comparison. What a bunch of gutless cowards.

I don't think it's the foregone con conclusion you and the media think it is. Who's to say the pen doesn't shite the bed for him too? They seem to do it often.

It's not a foregone conclusion, no, but shutting down one of your best players that isn't even hurt? c'mon. It threw off the entire rotation. Has a much bigger impact than some people give credit for.

There were plenty of ways to keep him with in the innings limit while still having him for the playoffs

Considering how he ended the season and how the rest of the Nats starters performed this series I don't think you can call it a lock

Maybe not a lock, but the nats left themselves open for this debate

You could also make the case that the Nationals might not have even needed to use their bullpen with Strasburg on the mound. Just look at the way Sabathia and Verlander went the distance in their teams' deciding games. Strasburg easily could have done the same in a game like this.
