$$$$...they want a Gump/Suckeye title game so bad it's obvious. They place OSU at 2, so after the conf champ games, they can move them down one spot, to 3 and say "blah, blah, blah we recognized the value of conf champ and they leapfrogged OSU", but still keeping their preferred title game in play.

I expect exactly this to happen.

Going into yesterday, OSU was #2 in 77 out of the 100 computers in the Massey Composite. These silly theories are getting stupider. Ohio State will be in the playoff because there is virtually no comprehensive data suggesting that they aren't one of the four best teams.

What we really need is more emotionally stunted Ohio State threads. There aren't enough of them on the MSB.

I never insinuated that OSU wasn't one of the best 4. However, it is very clear to me that there seeding has been planned and the talking points rehearsed.

Why do you even know the talking points? There is no reason anyone should watch that. The rankings almost always mirror Massey. The talking points exist because "We looked at the Massey Composite" doesn't cause any controversy.

OSU should have won their conference. I'd give them the boot

Bama
Clemson
Washington
Penn State

is what it should be.

Nah. The whole season counts, not just 3/4 of it. Ohio State is better, and they'll be in it, and that's that.

I get your point but heres my question. If winning your conference is so important why don't we just give the conference champs automatic bids and do away with the committee except for seeding? And thats an honest question. I think the answer is that they knew there would be circumstances where a team might win their conference but there still being a very deserving team that did not. Im not suggesting that conference championships mean nothing, but the committee has made it clear that its only 1 piece of the puzzle and not the trump card.

Penn State shouldn't have lost two games. They beat Minnesota and we aren't having this argument. Sorry but Ohio state is getting in

With "5 Power Conferences." Why are there only 4 spots available? For the life me, I cannot figure this out? If they are going to dub this title, and if conference titles are the end all be all...then all of those conference chanpions need to be in.

This is why there should be a 6 team playoff with the first 2 seeds getting byes this will cover the 5 plus one at large bid. Yes, no matter where you cut it off there will be controversy and if you allow 8 teams in, that is too many as at that point, teams with 3 losses will start getting in and that is too many loses for consideration.
