It's amazing how UConn was in a BCS bowl 3 yrs ago (yeah, i know the big east at the time was crap), but seeing how they've fallen is interesting.
Randy Edsall did an incredible job building that program to respectability. It's really really really hard for UConn to have success in football. Once he left, their faceplant was probably inevitable.

I take it you're not a big fan of offense?

Nah, I mean love the defenses, but yeah, the it's tough watching the lack of offense (although MSU did fairly well against Illinois on saturday.

What in the hell is the value in being in the FBS when you are never going to be competitive even within your mid-major conference?
I'm not talking about these schools that are long time 1AA and move up after a lot of success, but more what was the point of GSU starting from scratch and getting right into FBS?
Is there not more money to be made in trying to be SDSU or App St., or SHU or whatever else FCS power?

Probably not, consider how little effort they are putting in, compared to how much they are paid.

I didn't look at everyone's schedules, but here are all the teams with 0 or 1 wins:
Loosely, this is my order:
Southern Miss
Miami Ohio
Hawaii
Georgia Southern
UConn
Next are 1 win teams, the * means their win was over an FCS team:
NMSU (*Abilende Christian)
Eastern Michigan (*Howard)
Air Force (*Colgate)
Cal (*Portland State)
Purdue (*Indiana State)
Memphis (Arkansas State)
Temple (Army)
Idaho (Temple)
UTEP (NMSU)
Western Michigan (UMass)
FIU (Southern Miss)
UMass (Miami OH)
Kentucky (Miami OH)
Colorado (Colorado State plus 2 FBS)
Kansas (*SDSU and Louisiana Tech)
Iowa State (Tulsa)
I think Cal and Purdue would beat the MAC and Sun Belt teams, but the fact that they have not beaten in FBS team on 10/29 is pretty pathetic.

Wyoming has to be in there somewhere, they always usually are...Colorado State piss pounded them

UConn is an absolute train wreck this year. How they almost beat Michigan is a total mystery, but should really cause to question how good UM is when Ohio State beats them.
UConn is #126 in sacks allowed and rushing yards, I believe.
Edit: Looked it up...UConn is #100 in sacks allowed, #118 in rushing yards, #116 in total offense.
On the defensive side: UConn is #106 in scoring defense and is tied for #86 with a -3 turnover ratio. Ouch.

Their shitty AD went out and hired the absolute wrong guy to replace Edsall. They hired an over-the-hill washout because he had ties to the 70 years HS coaches in the state. They really needed to go with a young energy coach. You can win there (~8 win seasons should be standard).

9. Air Force: Usually Air Force is the most competitive Service Academy. They're definitely the worst this year.

I don't see how any team could be worse than USM. I'm just glad they don't play Jackson St. or Alcorn this year.

We are poo. I say "we" because I went there. I'm ashamed of the program. We used to have such a solid squad during my tenure (98-03). Had classes with several guys who played in the NFL.
Pinkston with the Eagles, Chad Williams with the ravens, Jeremy Bridges with the Cardinals, etc...
Really sad that St Aug in NOLA could probably beat us. They have more D1 talent than us I believe

I graduated in '94 and we were even better then. I told my son to hurry up and graduate because we haven't won since he started school there.

Definitely Georgia State. Those idiots have only had a program since 2010 and made the jump up to FBS already.

Navy's 8-2 vs. AFA since 2003. Before that Navy beat AFA twice in 20 years.
This is easily the worst team AFA has fielded since probably the late 70's, at least judging by results. They've been destroyed by injuries.

We got blown out in the CAA, I don't know what they were thinking. And why did the Sun Belt even take us? We flat out suck.

Southern Miss deserves to be the Alabama of losing teams. They keep the #1 spot until they prove otherwise.
They beat Grambling 48-10. But I think it is an unnecessary cheap shot. ULM won at Wake Forest, who had Miami on the ropes at home. I know--transitive property, yada yada yada--but ULM did beat a .500 ACC team on the road.

1. Georgia State: I wouldn't have had them this high last week, but I don't see Louisiana-Monroe beating any other team in CFB 38-10.
