The impression I got when I went to New York was that Mets had way cooler fans, and Yankees fans were pretty lame. Mets fans seemed to actually know that baseball was going on, despite how much their team sucked.

Yankee fans are douchebags plain and simple
Living up here I love and hate thus time of year.. I love baseball but hate hearing Yankee fans piss and moan about everything for example... All they could do was Lisa and moan about girardi taking CC out after 7 inns and a 4-0 lead..and when explained it's a long season it's cold out let's save our work horse they couldnt understand

Mets fans are more "New York" I'd say. Yankees fans comprise of vast quantities of bandwagon jackasses. Mets fans are still pretty lowly.

Based on your avatar, Philly fans are also jackasses, but probably not bandwagon fans (unless they became a fan in 2008).
