Since when is being just a three time All Star worthy of being in the hall? Kevin Johnson was a nice player but by no means a Hall of Famer. He was never even first team All NBA. You might as well put Kemp in in that case. More all star appearances plus the same amount of finals appearances. Only he was the star of that team and didn't play second fiddle to Barkley.

That's kind of random considering Kemp was a hell of a player. Maybe if you used Sam Perkins as your example or someone like that.

Considering Michael Jordan isn't even in the NBA HOF, I'd say the NBA HOF is the most exclusive son of a bitch out there.

Allan Houston would have been a better comparison.

Better question, how are you a 3-time All-Star but a 4-time All-NBA 2nd team selection???

During his 12-year playing career, Johnson was a three-time NBA All-Star and four-time second team All-NBA selection

The Logo and MJ couldn't make it. Hopefully LeBron can break down the barrier and carry the torch for lesser players behind him.

I would encourage you to look at how deep the PG position was back then...even in an era where bugs dominated. Guys like Terrell Brandon avg 10 assists/gm, but couldn't sniff a first team in the 90s.

Studs like Rod Strickland, Mark Jackson....man just check out some of those rosters. The NBA was so talent rich back then it's ridiculous. Nick Van Exel....the 90s were insane.

Guys that aren't even talked about anymore, but were immortalized in classic songs by Wu-Tang, Jay-Z, etc

To give you a real answer, the BASKETBALL HOF tries to compete with the NFL and MLB HOF, but has the misfortune of having no more than 15 players under contract per team. At most there are 450 guys under contract in the NBA at any given time - you don't have to play in the NBA to make the Baskeball HOF, but you get the idea. There are 1,696 players on the active NFL rosters and 1200 guys on the 40-man rosters in MLB.

Baseball lets in 2-3 guys on average and the NFL usually averages around 5-6 players. If the basketball HOF was just as strict as baseball they could go 2-3 years without an inductee and they may not get more than 1 a year if they were as strict as football. That is pretty boring for fans, and the HOF should be about the fans, alas guys like Kevin Johnson get in the basketball HOF.

Plus the list today wasn't even about who was going in this year, they are just this year's finalist to make it in the HOF

It is the basketball HOF
NBA is only a part of it

Foreign voters mess it all up, they vote popularity not performance

probably the same way Kirk Gibson was an MVP in baseball without ever being an all-star - great 2nd half of season

1) as it has been said, there is no NBA HOF.

2) Kevin Johnson was balling out before Barkley arived in PHX as he had already led his team to the WCF a few yesrs before then.

4 all nba 2nd team selections. Five All nba teams all together. Think about this. Chris Bosh will undoubtedly make it in and he has ONE all nba team selection. A bunch of all star games though, which mean little to me personally.
