Boom. Rafa's career is confounding at times. I think the best explanation for last year and this year is he blew his wad at Roland Garros, came in unprepared, he always struggles with the slick grass in the first week, and he caught a couple of guys on fire.

Fed's quarter is actually the easiest without Nadal. None of the big hitters he's had trouble with the past few years (I don't count Isner)

Damn. Who'd have thunk that Nadal wouldn't even be able to defend his points from last year's atrocious Wimbledon showing? So much for all those people bitching about Rafa being disrespected with the 5th place seeding.

What happened to Nadal? Did he play poorly; did his opponent play out of his mind; was it a combination of both?

Combination of both Nadal not playing well and Darcis playing out of his mind at times.

While serving for the match, Darcis won a point that I'm still in awe of. Just great stuff from him.

People on other forums are already claiming injuries caused the loss

Of course they are. When rafa loses, it's never because he was outplayed

I think people have claimed that every single one of Nadal's losses ever has been due to injury. Dude didn't look so injured when he was thrashing Ferrer in the FO finals. Love how two years in row after winning the French, he's too injured to beat the scrubs in the first couple of rounds at Wimbledon.

I've never seen Rafa play that bad before. Ever.

Let's not associate the ramblings of idiots on a message board with the athlete himself. I think the most unreasonable people on the entire internet are Rafa fans and Fed fans.* Just let them bang away at their keyboards.

Rafa appeared to be physically fine during the match. He just played like dogshit and got beat.
