Not so fast grasshopper. Delpo, Andy, and Rafa if healthy will have something to say about that. I think the men competition for the end of the year is wide open unlike in the past years. Jersey or some other young guy may finally break through. The younger guys finally feel they can beat these guys.
To me is a four horse race right now (assuming a healthy Rafa) without anyone clearly separating himself, with a chance of a young guy winning the US Open.

Just watched this last night after an all-day media blackout so I could go to a Nats game.
Congrats to Murray and the Brits. I'm glad he got that monkey off the back and can just focus on his career from here on out w/o Wimbledon being a topic of conversation every single time he was mentioned.
The match was very entertaining for straight sets. Djokovic looked good early in that second set, and the final game was just a ton of fun.

Now I guess there are a few north american events then the US Open. I really wish the US Open were a little earlier b/c as much as I like tennis the US Open tends to get lost for me when football season starts.

Just watched it as well, damn good match. I do agree with Bobby's point, however, that Murray just brings out something weird on Djokovic whereas Rafa brings out his best. I think alot of it has to do with the mentality behind the matchups which is so interesting to me.
People can talk for days about Rafa's topspin and kick serve against Fed's one-handed backhand or other purely physical matchups, but the mental part is huge IMO. I think it plays a huge part in Rafa's success against Fed, Djok's success against Rafa and now we see it with Murray against Djok.
I really think, when all things are even, the agressor wins almost every time in tennis. Now there are some times when things simply aren't equal (see Rafa on clay where he can grind it out against just about anyone ever and win), but for the most part this theory holds true.
When Rafa was coming up he repeatedly echoed Fed's greatness and diminished his own, and I don't think it was coach speak in the slightest. I really think he believed Fed was better. This belief forced him to be the aggressor and learn to play a different type of tennis on grass and hard surfaces.
The same thing is seen when Djoker plays Rafa. He is always going for the lines and his level of tennis usually skyrockets. Against Murray, however, he seems to just revert to the conservative baseline game whereas Murray comes out being aggressive. Not taking anything away from Murray, he was phenomenol, but Djokovic always plays weird against him.
That final game, however, was simply incredible. I'm pissed I couldn't watch it live. Knowing what happened somewhat diminished the excitement, but it was still impossible not to imagine what Murray was thinking when it went to deuce after 0-40. At 15-40 when Djoker bitch slapped that second serve for a winner I remember thinking "holy shite, does he really lose this or is everyone punking me". I thought for sure he'd lose it, props to Andy for pulling it out.
On a minor sidenote, for someone who can hit some of the most unorthodox shots on the planet, why dies Djokovic look like some country club weekend warrior when he hits overheads? I seriously don't understand how someone can suck at much at overheads as he does. Granted pros make overheads look exponentially easier than they are IRL, but he is still attrocious at them.

I was flying Sunday morning and only watched the third set, but yesterday I watched the whole thing.
My thoughts:
Djokovic lost his second major in row because of his head. In the second set he ran out of challenges and he spent 5 mins arguing about a line call (which was correct btw) with the chair empire. He lost his focus and let Murray break him. Losing that second set resulted in a feeling of inevitability of a Murray victory. He let the crowd get to him.
Same thing he did in the French when he was bitching about the dry court. He got up and let Rafa break him at love.
The joker is a hot head and he is back to his days of double faulting at key times. He did it to lose the French in 2012, and it plagued him before 2011. His feeling of invincibility which he carried around in 2011 is not there against the top guys. He is doubting. He is losing because of his head not because of his tennis ability. Now you have up and coming you g guns that are going to stop feeling those 4 guys are always going to win. Fed is clearly in decline. Rafa's health is in question. The joker loses his last two big games, is Murray going to be number 1? I'm starting to believe he is.
