Well yeah, there's no question this loss would be more damaging for Fed. I was mainly wondering which is more surprising

This one too. Roger is the best grass court player like ever.

Love the use of quotes. I still cannot begin to comprehend how you are continuing to argue with the assertion that Rafa's 2012 Wimbledon loss was "blamed on injuries." One of us apparently has a counting problem and neither will admit it so let's move on

I'm aware that people may have said it. Perhaps I think "people" as you stated it should be limited to people on this fine message board. I'll leave it at that as I don't want to get into a merrian-webster's fight.

That was a frustration hit.

The crowd will start pulling for the upset. This helps ragedy Andy.

Is he putting easy forehands into the bottom of the net? That's when you know he's done for the day.

Gun to my head, I'll take Sampras, but I'll have to give Fed the silver medal.

Well, Roger has won more Wimbledon trophies against better competition, so that is why I think he is the best.

Wozniaki is turrible now. Her and Rory need to break up before they destroy both their careers...

Woz was never anything other than terrible. She sucks at tennis.

Not really making unforced errors yet, but the other guys is just on a tree and not getting down.

If this goes to 5 he might start getting tired, and the quality will start going down. Roger is playing well, but the other guy amazingly enough is playing better.

I'm going on the "your life depends on one match" test. Both guys in their prime. 1994 Sampras v. 2006 Fed. I gotta pick the winner or I die.

I gotta go Sampras.

Separately, out of curiosity, did you bet on a tourney winner or just on individual matches (apologies if you stated this earlier)? I put money on Murray (in part based on your analysis -- I give credit where credit is due) at +375 to win the whole thing and am liking the way his draw is shaking out.

I tossed 25 bucks on Murray at 4-1.

I don't know honestly who would win that match, but I would say the guy with the most variety of shots, and who plays smarter on the court.

It would be tough to break Sampras, but I have to go with the most consistent guy in his prime.

Would this be more of a shocker than Nadal's upset? I can see arguments both ways

I think the Nadal loss is the bigger shocker (if Fed loses). I thought Fed would get bounced in the third or fourth. He's just been in bad form all year.

And I thought Nadal had a legit shot at winning the tourney. Nadal's thing at Wimby is getting through those first few rounds when the courts are still grass and not dirty. I didn't think there was any way he would get bounced early two years in a row.

What the hell do I know?

Sampras is more of an attacking player. He would have forced the issue, and with his athleticism around the court and specifically in moving towards and around the net -- people forget how athletic Sampras was -- he wouldn't have given Fed time to make pretty, varied shots.
