Braves getting another 2017 salary off the book.
My guess is they see if they can fix Swisher and Bourn next year and if they can't they won't let them get their 550 PA.
Don't hate this deal.

Braves also getting $10M+ (I assume to cover the salaries of Swisher and Bourn for the rest of the year).
I am more than okay with this deal.
Very little risk although I think it makes competing next year a little less likely but does put us in better position for 2017.

Yay welcome back Michael Bourn

I assume Bourn to CF, Maybin to LF and Swisher to 1B for now.
Maybin definitely getting traded this offseason now imo. Swisher will obviously have to move to LF next year when Freeman returns.

Vol, can we get an updated look at contracts?
Posted on 8/7/15 at 2:41 pm to volfan30
Not a bad way to get out of the CJ contract IMO. If Bourn and Swisher produce we could dump them at the deadline in 2016. If not, then they won't reach 550. That's a lot for anyone, especially aging injury prone players. Not very risky like you said.

You expecting an offseason Maybin deal?
Posted on 8/7/15 at 2:47 pm to RollDatRoll
Yeah I don't see anywhere for him to play. If Swisher is so bad the rest of the way they don't think he's salvageable maybe they just release him this winter and stick Maybin in LF but there's not room for both I don't think.
I guess maybe Swisher could be a utility guy next year, but seems like trading Maybin would be the best move depending on what your motives are for next season.
I'll get you a look at the contracts here in a second.

Supposed to be back this weekend.

That's a lot of money to take on.
I loved me some Bourn in ATL the first time. Here's to hoping the second time around is as good. I'm meh about Swisher but I like the deal overall.
