Amidst the swirl of speculation about Charlie Strong’s future and reports that the Texas head football coach would be fired this week, several Longhorn players are considering boycotting this week’s regular-season finale against TCU, according to a source close to the Texas football program. Upperclassmen on the team are intervening and trying to calm the waters according to the source.

“Some of the team is threatening to boycott the TCU game,” the source said. “Older players are trying to settle things down.”

This is getting ugly. Again who is running this program? The boosters or the AD/President?

Really well written blurb. No mention whatsoever of why they are threatening to boycott.

We are simply left to infer that they are in favor of Strong, although it is never said.

Great writing.

Well, they apparently boycotted the Kansas game, too.

Herbstreit's 'cesspool' comment is making more and more sense as this unfolds.

If they wouldn't have boycotted the season, their coach wouldn't be getting fired.

The most money, the deepest recruiting bed, the best facilities, it's own sport's network, and a "respected" conference that only has one perennial challenger in OU. If the AD and President could keep the booster's hands off the program it could conceivably become untouchable.
