I'm sure there's a sort of "gag order" going around the executives and ownership of the NFL about concussions. I get it, because any sort of acknowledgement could be used against them in future litigation.

It does make him sound stupid though.

I'd have a real easy response if I were an NFL dude...

"All football players have known about the possible long term injury risks for athletes for years. If they wish to stop playing to avoid that possibility, they are free to make that decision."

He's right, but I don't get in 100 minor car accidents every day like football players do when they use their helmets.

You can be driving your car and get a concussion in an accident. I don't want to discuss the relevance of it in football.

I've done that before, but I didn't do it on purpose. And it has had long lasting effects. Minor but still a pita.

I think they would come off better in the long run if they just said the legal questions compelled them not to comment. You could fairly argue that other sports are probably more dangerous (boxing & MMA) or equally dangerous (hockey & rugby) but pretending it is a non-issue no longer seems plausible.

Also, whenever you make an argument that revolves around pointing to other guilty parties, you weaken your own status by implicitly admitting your own culpability can only be mitigated by comparing yourself to even more egregious examples.
