The Phoenix Suns fired coach Jeff Hornacek on Sunday night, league sources told The Vertical.

General manager Ryan McDonough informed Hornacek of the decision upon the Suns’ return to Phoenix after a 91-78 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night.

The loss was the franchise’s 14th straight on the road with a roster decimated with injuries. The Suns have lost 19 of 21.

Knew it was coming sooner than later...

What a dysfunctional franchise. Hornacek is the least of the Suns problems right now, yet hes the scapegoat for all of their issues.

Their roster from two years ago that went 48-34 has been completely changed. Dragic and Green are with Miami. The other Morris twin is in Detroit, with his brother still in Phoenix not happy. Frye is in Orlando and Barbosa went to Golden State.

No kidding.

"Heres a roster full of average-mediocre talent with most players under 30! Take them to the playoffs with a Morris twin who doesn't wanna be here. Oh, you can't? Your fired!"

Hornacek did a great job with what he had, he'll hook up with a team sooner rather than later

Thought that franchise was about to take the next step forward, but this year has been hell for 'em.

What's going to be great is the fire sale...

Suns have pieces that could help other teams..obviously starting with Chandler.

My favorite part of this slow burn was Sarver blaming the team struggles on "millennial culture"

Tyson has been all kinds of mediocre this year TBH.

I guess maybe Chicago for Noah's expiring contract might work? Not sure if the Bulls would even want him back at this point on that deal.

I was at the game last night and Chandler was the one who kept them in it. Plus Booker is a player.

He lost control of that team in the second half of last year, what a horrible hire.

good for him for having a decent game for once.

he's still been crap more often than he has been good this year.

Well their 3 best players all played the same position, not sure how that's hornacek's fault. Front office is a mess, obviously lied to both Dragic and Markieff Morris about their contracts/roles.

There are like 5 difference making coaches and a few outwardly bad ones (not hornacek). Other than that, coaches don't matter, especially for a team in the Suns position. I guess they needed a fall guy but this just looks like the start of a long rebuilding process.

I thought Booker was making a mistake leaving for the draft but he looks like he belongs

Sarver and McDonough are terrible. The fact that Hornacek is gone before those two frauds is ridiculous. I hate being a fan of the Suns today.
