re: Sun Life Stadium Renovations Canceled

If the Dolphins leave for Los Angeles, the Jaguars will move to Miami like 2 years later.

re: Sun Life Stadium Renovations Canceled
It is total bull shite the renovations was not put to a vote. The Speaker of the House in FL prevented it from even going to a vote which is total bull shite.

The deal was a good one. The Fins owner was paying the vast majority. The public contribution would have come from a hotel tax on tourists. The Fins were also willing to repay most of the money.

It makes no sense for the Fins owner to pony up all the cash in this case. The renovations would have resulted in future super bowls, BCSNCGs, and the big prize of SB 50. It would have paid repaid the public portion 3 to 5x over. The Fins owner paying for all of it when it would not increase revenues to the Fins enough to cover all the costs, but would benefit the community a lot is garbage.

The fact it was not even brought to a vote pisses me off. This was the exact oposite of the Marlins deal. This was a deal where the local community and taxpayers COULDN"T LOSE. It was a no-brainer and it was not even allowed to be voted on due to some jackass in the House.

Also, Miami could easily lose the Fins when the current owner sells. Franchises are not generational, he will sell, it very well may be to a new owner who decides to move the franchise.

Exactly, I don't get why folks automatically default to the, "You pay for it" without recognizing this.

Exactly.

The city got burned with the Marlins. Why would they fall for it again?

To say "again" implies it's the same type of deal. It is not, so I don't really see how the Marlins deal should be relevant.

Opened in August of 1987, so it's closer to 26 years ago, which would be closer to 30.

It was a stupid political move by the speaker pandering to an uninformed ignorant public.

Good. That stadium is fine and in decent shape. Not like it's not superbowl worthy.

Plus I'd rather NOLA get the SB anyway.

Man, remember when they played the SB in places like Stanford Stadium and Sun Devil Stadium.

Yeah, Goodell was at some of the events regarding Sunlife and he and the other owners have pretty much guaranteed Miami Superbowl 50 if Sunlife is renovated.

That is out the window now though, thanks to some ignorant JACKASS speaker of the house. I sorta doubt he gets re-elected now.

Yeah, the city of Seattle really showed those Sonics. I'm sure they are much happier now.

How many people does the U rally draw? Every game you see there looks like 25K or 30K

This is not true. It hasn't been "proven".

I'd say the renovations to the Superdome have worked out pretty well for the City of New Orleans. That being said, it is a true multi use facility that goes beyond football in the fall.

They need an on-campus stadium badly. Probably would have the room to build one if they got creative.
