Without having a clearcut favorite team...Im on board
Cant wait to see that kid pitch!

Especially if they end up signing Bryce Harper as well, could be a fun club to watch...

Nats buzz has gotten a lot louder around here. They are pretty solid without him at this point and now theyve brought up Storen to solidify the pen. Once they add Strasburg in a few weeks, they could really take off. Harper could big a big time bat in 3 years.

Even though I'm a Braves fan, I still root for them and go to their games as often as I can

and to think the nats could have had smoak in 08 as well..

but then again you could say they could have had jason heyward the previous year as well too.. lol

haha heyward, smoak, strasburg, harper.. that'd of been a nice 4 years drafting..

Yea, im quite curious as to how strasburg will pitch this year (statistically)...I just got back into my keeper fantasy league (its a baseball simulation league that we use a program where you actually play games with). I inherited a pretty horrible team...I have a chance at getting a top 2 pick this year...If i do I'll have a chance at either Heyward or strasburg. (rookies are players that get a minimum of 50 ABs or 8 Appearances as a pitcher).

The nats are still in a semi tough division to compete in though..

I decided about a week ago that I'm going to be a Nats fan. I have 4 of them on my fantasy team, and I really like this Strasburg kid, so frick it. Totally agree on signing Harper.

I've never had a team, and I do live in Atlanta now so it makes sense for me to not follow the Braves

Ian Desmond is going to be VERY GOOD at shortstop. Now I'm just praying Zimmermann recovers fully so the Nats can have a 1-2 punch with him and Strasburg. Then draft Harper this year and things start looking really promising.

The Nats already have the 1st overall pick in the 2010 draft from having the worst record in 2009. You have to remember it isn't like the NFL draft which is in the offseason, but is in June (so basically in the middle of the season)

yeah, it's easy to ignore the baseball draft, especially with the publicity and "importance" of the NFL and NBA draft. shite, not a lot of people care about 50 rounds and guys who will go off to college or the minors for a couple of years before we ever hear of them

And they're getting John Wall. It's definitely an exciting time for DC sports.

the baseball draft is dicey too bc it can be risky taking a chance on a guy who doesn't even sign with your club.. like the nats first round pick a couple years ago.. i believe in 08 when they drafted crowe.

That's why they were so nervous to draft Strasburg. It would've set the franchise back soooo much if they would've missed out on signing their top pick two years in a row. They inevitably deemed that Strasburg was worth the risk and so far he hasn't disappointed.
