While Kerr is a great coach, it would be a fascinating story line if they struggled in the next 5-10 games and lost a couple.

He was recovering from back surgery and it took longer than thought.

Kerr ruptured a disk in his back during Game 5 of the NBA Finals. He had two surgeries to repair the injury, one on July 28 and another on Sept. 4. His recovery was very slow and I believe I heard he suffered from horrible headaches.
