Stephen A. Smith Defended Himself Against LeBron James’ Tweet With A 15-Minute Rant

LeBron James may not want to fight Kyrie Irving, but it sounds like Stephen A. Smith certainly wants to start a fight with LeBron himself. If you can even believe it, the crab rangoon skeptic and ESPN reporter is injecting himself into the NBA’s most peculiar offseason story by ranting on the radio about James and the Cavaliers after it became public that Irving requested a trade out of Cleveland. After James flatly denied that he’s eager to get Kyrie Irving off his team, Smith responded on his radio show Monday with a 15-minute rant to open the show that included a long list of claims.
quote:
“I’m about to say something here,” Smith said. “I’m going to openly confess that what I’m about to say—it’s personal.” “He’s talking about me. He’s talking about what I reported. And what I reported is that if LeBron James was in front of Kyrie Irving, I was told QUOTE ‘He would be tempted to whoop his arse.’ “That’s a quote. That’s what was TOLD to me. I did not speculate. I did not put that out there. It was TOLD to me. VERBATIM. In that manner. ‘Tempting.’ [ … ] “It wan’t meant to be taken literally. It was meant to highlight his level of frustration for what he perceives to be something that Kyrie Irving is doing.” It’s all very, very loud, and Smith is clearly passionate about this. Smith says he’s upset about the tweet because he’s popular enough that players come to him directly when they have a problem with his reporting. Being publicly critical is, in his mind, not the best course of action against someone who makes a living being publicly critical of sports stars. “Ladies and gentlemen LeBron James has access to my number. If it was almost any other superstar in the league, I’d have heard from them. They would have called me directly. I’m not bragging, but I got it like that.”
quote:
“We never report everything we know. Contrary to what some of you out there may believe, we do exercise decorum and professionalism and we do make a concerted effort to quell whatever biases exist inside of us as human beings. But I gotta tell y’all, there are some moments when a professional athlete literally temps you to go nuclear on them. And I stand here before you today right in that zone when it comes to LeBron James.”

I'm sorry, I'm gonna knocked for saying this. This shite is so entertaining. With a slow moving sports month, this is the perfect time for this.

The line between sports journalism and E!/TMZ is thinning more and more each day.
To quote our greatest American poet, "It's all about the he-says, she-says bullshite".

Good lord.

Smith tried this with KD last summer with the whole "You don't want to make an enemy out of me" thing. Wasn't as big of a deal. LeBron pretty much runs the league though. He has Adam Silver in his back pocket. Dude is going to be blackballed real quick.

He is handed a script (that I'm sure he has a part in writing) and then he acts the part.

This is all wrestling.

There comes a point in the career of every dickrider when he/she thinks they have become the star of the show.
Stephen A has just reached that point.
Stephen A has just reached that point.

I'm too distracted by SAS' tears to know what's he's saying.

If someone else told you that and it wasn't Lebron himself, then YOU put that out there and deserve to be cast off like a shite journalist or publicly ridiculed by Lebron himself.

Hearsay never works out well for journalists' reputations, that's how false narratives are created and how people like Terrell Owens are ostracized despite how much they produce and how hard they work. Ask Skip Bayless where it's his go-to argument.

This is the answer...
Stephen A. just opened his own can of whoopie arse.. What an idiot
He surely doesn't want to go there. This is either wrestling as another poster insinuated, or this is getting real, and when it gets real, getting real goes wrong---for Stephen A. Shite it will not go well.
