The olymlics have tons of individual sports and use amateurs.
What event would be easier to organize and more entertaining to watch?
"Come play to see who the best football team in the world is!"
"Come find out who the fastest man in the world is!"
Winners would receive significant payment.

As a Braves fan, I hated the Goodwill Games because they took away live coverage from the Braves. Had to watch Bob Horner's 4 homerun game in '85 or '86 on tape delay if I recall.
