Do you think we should also show the trailer for next week's Game of Thrones before every game as well?

I mean, people do like GoT, and it only takes 90 seconds.

Also, I have a feeling it was a deal where the teams were about to take the field as per usual when someone came in the box and said "Hey we don't have time for the anthem, so have the teams start warmups right now."

Way to pull things out of your arse and run with them.

In the NCAA softball tournament, they only schedule the anthem to be performed before the first game of the day since the games are played one right after the other. This is uniform to all the regionals. It wasn't the fault of ESPN, ULL, or anyone. That is just the way it is set up.

Seriously that's fricked up ESPN… I hope they get a shitstorm for this.

Not ESPN's fault. See above post. Just because someone says something on Facebook doesn't make it true...

It takes what, 90 seconds to sing the National Anthem

It should take 90 seconds at the most, maybe 75 seconds.

However, some people try their best to hit 2 minutes.

Anyone know why the head coach was wearing a backpack? I only tuned in briefly and did not hear/see what the reason was.

He has had some medical issues this year that involve his throat and esophagus. He has had a couple of surgeries on his throat this season. The backpack had oxygen, I think, or maybe some liquids/nutrients and he has been eating by IV. When he spoke on camera during the mid-game interview, it almost sounded like he was talking with a voice box like the South Park dude. He is on the road to recovery, but probably won't be able to travel to Auburn for the super regional.

has some pretty bad esophagus problems and can't swallow. the backpack contains fluids and nutrients that is connected to a tube that runs under his shirt to a port

It's a jet pack that he uses to do a flyover when the fans sing the national anthem

Cause dem ESPN folk hate dey country and da Cajuns and won't call us by our make believe name and make us start da game at a certain time even though we ain't sung da anthem yet. Never mind da fact tha Boodreaux could have started da tape 2 minutes earlier.

Now that is funny: a backwoods Appalachian hillbilly hick making fun of the Cajun culture.

There's no reason to do the national anthem before the game. It just wastes time.

It is. I was at LSU's regional all weekend and have been at past regionals. Each day they did the anthem once at the beginning of the day.

It was like that at the SEC tournament last week too.

This whole deal is a "faux outrage induced Facebook scandal". Why let the facts get in the way of some good Facebook bitching, right?
