I think a good bit was on the play calling. Denver has possibly the most ferocious pass rush ever seen. Carolina is the one team in the NFL with the perfect weapon to slow it. Run Cam more. QB draws, that triple option they ran once for 12 yards, some roll outs with a run pass option.

Carolina did almost non of that. It was a straight pocket pass or a run up the middle 95% of the game.

Which is why I think Cam was nicked - and maybe he started out a little nicked and got banged up early on the 14-yard run or a sack/hit. He did grab the non-throwing shoulder after a hit. He never looked like he was having significant physical trouble, but he didn't look like Cam on most plays, either.

I'm not making excuses, I'm trying to explain things.

Roethlisberger did a lot better job than Brady. He had two good outings against the Broncos and almost beat the in the playoffs without his best weapon.

Both those QBs are HOFers. Cam isn't yet. He crumbled last night, but the Panthers likely aren't going anywhere in the next couple years. It's the NFL, so anything can happen (look at SF from 5 years ago to now), but they look to be filled with a good core for sure

Big Ben should be the Qb the Op is talking about. Brady looked just as lost two weeks ago against this defense

Brady's game is predicated on shorter routes than Cam's is. It's an offensive system that hurts when pressure is coming as well. Ben has WRs that other teams dream of as well.

To say "QB X was better against this team" may be true, but how many games did Cam outperform Ben against common opponents this year?

Also, if you are comparing him to Brady the Pats have much better receivers who at least got open some...Cam didn't have much help.

He had enough help to go 17-1 and reach the Super Bowl. Then, all of a sudden, he didn't have enough help. GTFO with that shite.

I get your point but his WRs didn't show up yesterday. It is actually pretty crazy how well they played all season and one of the main reasons CAR was 17-1. I don't think anyone expected their WRs to be good this year.

Can we not be honest about the situation? Crotchery's first drop cost them a td directly. Crotchery's next drop would have put them 1st down inside the 10. And Ted Ginn caused an int inside the 30. His receivers sucked and played a huge part in the loss last night

The Ginn INT was bad, but was probably 50/50 on both guys. Cam rocketed it in there for no reason, and Ginn should have caught it.

Philly Brown getting hurt caused problems for Carolina. He was burning Talib early and often

You're a fricking retard if you think cam is better then Brady at this point in his career. He has a higher ceiling.

The reason I'm talking about Brady and not Ben is the stark difference between cams and bradys playstyle. Youd think a more athletic qb would do better but that wasnt the case.

Did you watch this season? Cam was definitely better than Brady this season.

If you're talking about overall career then of course, Brady has been in the NFL a decade more than Cam.

Newton is better than Brady right now... Brady will also continue his slide into mediocrity while CN (assuming he stays healthy) has another five or six years at peak.

Newton will never make it to his forties as an NFL QB though... no way his body can hold up

We heard this 3 years ago and then he proceeded to win a super bowl the next year

Stop listening to Phil Simms. It was a 15 yard crossing route. You are supposed to fire that in there as hard as you can to the receiver. No such thing as throwing it too hard when it is 15+ yards downfield

Yes, Cam played better than Brady this season, but that doesn't make cam a better qb overall than Brady. Cam did amazing things with what little he had to work with, but you gotta at least win a super bowl to be in that conversation at this stage in Cams career.

There also isn't really any such thing as throwing too hard in the NFL. It's the Superbowl and you're a professional.. you gotta make those plays.

I am not a fan of Carolina or Cam but he didn't look right all day...he looked like the pressure got to him or he was hurt or sick or something...even at the beginning he didn't look right...not sure why...maybe it was just the defense...

He's been terrible all year under pressure, but his oline has done a good job with it.

He had a 71 Passer Rating under pressure this year, and that was before this game. It's why I didn't understand everyone acting like the Panthers would easily win

Cam showed a fair lack of awareness and "qb sense" tonight and truthfully that lost the game.

I don't think so. The playcalling was pretty awful and his receivers didn't play very well.

Cam didn't have a great attitude, and that's a legitimate knock on him. I don't think he played poorly, though.
