My son, who is a recent college graduate who was also a college athlete told me that the girls who wear bows or ribbons are hetero, while those who don't are not. Anyone confirm or dispel this?

Same story I was told by 2 former college softball players who work with my wife.

I work with a former college softball player. She says it is definitely a real thing and she always got hit on if she forgot a ribbon. Girls at my high school did it as well

Must be a thing in soccer too.
Why don't you want to wear the ribbon?

They all have long hair/ponytails these days. It's like they outlawed the butch cuts.

I dated a softball player in college and was friends with a couple others. The Ribbon/Bow thing is totally real, it's probably accurate 90% of the time. I did know one who was straight and wore a bow, then turned gay and kept wearing it. She was obviously the female in the relationship.
The bigger dead give away of a big time lesbian is an athletic headband, like LeBron used to wear. It's usually catchers who wear them, but others do to and it's probably 100% accurate. The straight girls like girly things and they'd never wear a basketball headband like that.
And anyone who doesn't know, about 40-50% of all college softball players are lesbians and probably 30-40% girls college basketball players are lesbians. My friend dated a basketball girl in college and she said there was often massive tension in the locker room because they all dated each other and therefore always fighting and not speaking to each other. She got unbelievably sick of lesbian culture and their fighting because it was a detriment to their team.
The only major female sport that I can think of that has very very few lesbians is volleyball. I was friendly with many of them too and to my knowledge they didn't have a single one on the team. It's probably not a coincidence that Volleyball aslo produces the hottest female athletes also, they're basically all very feminine and like to look good. This is all a fascinating subject that not many really know about.

I honestly would have switched those numbers and assumed that basketball was more lesbian-dominated.

From first hand knowledge softball was WAY more lesbian dominated than basketball, it was a DII school so who knows about major programs, but I'm certain almost half the softball team were lesbians, they wore men's clothes, usually a very ghetto/hip-hop look of polo's, air force one's, and colored straight billed hats, and partied like fricking animals too.
I didn't have gymnastics at my college so I wouldn't know, but it seems accurate they dont have many. Our Tennis team was small and didn't get much pub that's why I don't consider it a major college womens sport.
