Sure, there are 2 more games from week 1. But here are the things I observed so far.

1. For all the preseason hype that he was getting, Jeremy Johnson has a long way to go as a passer. The interceptions he threw was horrible as they were thrown into double and triple coverages.

2. Petrino may be an offensive genius, but please, will someone give him the rule book? Anybody who watch the game yesterday saw him wasted a timeout towards the end of the game, ensuring Auburn to seal the victory. Chris Webber has company now.

3. Stanford offense is bad, mustering only 85 yards on the ground(their bread and butter). They have no playmakers at the skill positions. They were a no threat the whole game. It's going to be a long season for the tree.

4. Sure, Bama destroyed Wisconsin. But I'm not ready to crown the Tides as contenders yet. Most of the damages that Bama did on the ground was due to the mistakes of the Badgers with bad tackling and bad personel positioning.

5. The Vols look like they mean business this year. I know it was against Bowling Green but the were very balanced and making it look easy on offense. They did however allow BG QB to toss for 400+ yds.

6. It's going to be a long year for the Longhorns. They can't run(60yds). They can't throw(Swoops 7/22 90yds). They can't convert 3rd downs 2/11. And most importantly, they have no confidence and it's only the 1st week.

7. Exiting ending in the BYU/NEB game. But coaches continue to screw up when it comes to defending the hail mary. Why coaches don't rush 5 vs the hail mary is beyond me. Rushing 3 is a waste of manpower since it doesn't prevent the QB from lauching the ball. Either rush 5/6 or 0. Rushing 3 is a waste of personal.

8. Oregon still got it when it comes to picking on the small teams, putting up 61 points and close to 500 yds rushing. We'll see how they do when they start facing the big boys of the pac12. Should be interesting.

9. Feel good moment of the week: Boston College's Bobby Swigert, a sixth-year senior who has endured 11 knee surgeries, caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Darius Wade in the second quarter of the Eagles' 24-3 win over FCS opponent Maine.

10. The long awaited LSU season opener was canceled due to weather. It's a bummer but we all know the results anyway. Some people feel cheated. Sure it sucks since most people look forward to it. Some spent a quite a bit to attend the game. But life will always go on whether you like it or not. Look, football is here and cool weather comes along with it. It's a fun time! Personally, I spent $44 on 2 tickets. Getting that $44 back will not change my life.

The Pac-12 North is horrendous and the South isn't a whole lot better.

I don't expect you to know this, because you probably don't follow my team closely, but they actually have one playmaker at a skill position: Christian McCaffrey. They may have others, but David Shaw is too pussy-whipped by himself to find out.

What are all these arbitrary terms, anyway? They're just shite made up by pundits. "Playmaker" You make plays? You could make shitty plays and still be a play maker, right? "Game-changer"? You could change the game by sucking, too, right?

Oh, difference maker...that one could mean anything, too. I blame PTI and Around the Horn!

They gave up 42 to EWU. I expect them to get beaten pretty badly next week in East Lansing.

A few other nuggets for me:

-Arizona State was way, way, way overrated.

-Can we finally cool it on the Jeremy Johnson hype? He looked like he wasn't ready for yesterday.

-Tennessee's pass defense may be an issue for them. They won handily and their offense looked good, but Bowling Green had open receivers all over the field all day long. Oklahoma will bring an air raid offense to Knoxville next week, so that'll be a really interesting matchup.

-BYU/Nebraska was clearly the game of the day.

-Wisconsin hung tough for awhile, but the lack of overall talent showed up later in the game. I feel like them missing that FG before halftime was demoralizing for them (not that they would have won if that had made it).

-Louisville pressed the self destruct button over and over again yesterday. Auburn didn't need Louisville's help, but they got it anyways.

-Christian Hackenberg got sacked 10 times by Temple. Prayers sent to him when they have to play MSU and OSU.

-Texas, ouch.

What I mean is that he doesn't do anything spectacular that makes defensive coordinator nervous. The guy ran for 300 yds last year, 200 yrs receiving. Sure, it was limited action. But he's doesn't have great size, athleticism to scare anybody.

The Big 12 is Mtn West quality, just with bigger brand names.

Everyone STILL overreacts to the Baylors and Oregons of the world because they score 70 on shite opponents. People NEVER learn.

I've already mentioned above that rushing 5 or 6 would be optimal. This doesn't allow the QB to run around, buy time, and launch the ball in the end zone.

Most of the successful hail mary that you've seen in the past has one thing in common. The defense rushing 3 or 2 players. Go on youtube and see Doug Flutie hail mary, Kordell Stewart's, Blue grass miracle, and yesterday's.

completely agree. I choose the drop 11.

Your dislike of Bama shows too much here. How do you write off a Bama win as just bad play of Wisconsin, yet laud Tennesseee over a win over Bowling Green?

Still waiting to see the Hackenberg that will go top 15 that all the NFL pundits see. I know I am far from alone in this matter, but seriously. That coincides with the whole Penn State program. Still waiting to see what makes James Franklin so entrusted to lead this program back to prominence. He hasn't done much at PSU, and some of his decisions last year in the Michigan/Penn State game rivaled Hoke's in terms of stupidity.

ETA: That being said, Harbaugh as we've seen can't perform short term miracles and Michigan still has a ways to go, but I am comfortable with that loss and confident going forward. Wouldnt be saying the same thing if I were a Texas fan.

Tennessees defense is horrible!! They will need to score 30 or more in their conference games to have a chance to win. And 30 a game in this conference is not easily attainable.

I think Coker is going to good to very good. I think Bamas LBs need to run .....and run ......and run some more!! They can't play sideline to sideline. Hopefully Bamas D (besides the line , they looked great) can continue to get better but unfortunately you can't teach speed. I'm worried about the LBs.

A&M looked solid. Today everyone's talking about how great their defense is?? Let's hold up a bit and see then play a couple more teams. I think they just played an over ranked team but did what they needed to do.

Auburn was gutted by UoLs offense but I think Louisville will do that to a lot of teams this year. Why the frick did Petrino not get a big time OC job when he was out of work?? JJ is just flat out terrible. He doesn't look like he knows what he's doing. It wasn't just 3 ints , it 3 terrible , unexplainable ints. Maybe he can be coached up a bit more and get better but how long does it take??

No one else played anybody with a pulse so I'll hold judgement until further down the road.

Good luck to all teams! Football is back and College Football is the greatest brand of football there is! Here. We. Go.
