Fox Sports seems to be making moves to corner the market on obnoxious blithering loudmouths with Cowherd, Whitlock, and now Bayless.

Seriously is Disney broke? They have lost like 75% of their top talent in the last year

they aren't broke but ESPN vastly overpaid for a lot of their current contracts w/sports leagues under the assumption their cut from cable/satellite companies wold continue to rise but w/subscription rates dropping due to cord cutting Disney has commanded ESPN to cut costs to make up for the losses. Top brass at ESPN believes they are the main reason most of their personalities become so well known so once the talent starts demanding more $$$ they cut bait and bring in the new crop.

Yeah, I was shocked at the amount of money they threw at CFB during all the realignment. I remember them even offering a big amount to save the big east. It was crazy.

ESPN could keep plucking younger and younger talent from the regional networks and keep only a handful of top talent and be fine ratings wise.

I dont watch NFL Live for Trey Wingo

One name to watch for Bayless's spot on FT: Chris "Mad Dog" Russo. He and Stephen A have good relationship from SXM.

I'm sure ESPN is praying that Gruden takes a HC job before his contract is up. He makes 6.5 mill a year. They could get anyone that isn't offensive in that booth for SIGNIFICANTLY less and the ratings would stay the same.

You guys get so excited when guys like Bayless leave, but ESPN simply replaces them with individuals with bigger, shittier personalities.

Money problems. All the quality talent is leaving, and Bayless.

Bayless is expected to join Fox Sports. New Fox Sports head honcho Jamie Horowitz—who worked with Bayless at First Take while at ESPN and is generally credited/blamed for the network’s embarrassing “Embrace Debate” era
This insinuates that First Take started this era, did he also work on PTI?

I think they finally figured out that they're able to squeeze subscribers because of their sports so it's kind of stupid to pay 7 figures to people to run vanity websites and shout at each other on morning and afternoon shows.

I don't think they are saying he created debate shows, moreso he was the one that saw the popularity of shows like PTI and went "LETS DO THAT FOR EVERYTHING AND PUT THAT shite ON STEROIDS!"
