Cubs are going to the World Series. They've already beat the best two teams in baseball. They're the best team left.

Shame the Astros blew their shot yesterday. My brother in law is a big Cubs fan. I'd love to have a shot at a Cubs Astros world series.

Possibly the worst team song ever. Even my friends who are Cubs fans hate it.

Mark Caro of the Tribune and Dan Bernstein on 670am wrote funny columns about the song in earlier in the year.

quote:

It's time for "Go Cubs Go" to be gone — at least from its role as the official postgame victory song.

We're entering a new era. Wrigley Field is getting a mammoth video scoreboard and spankin' new signage. The Cubs have signed a pennant-pedigreed new manager and a $155 million pitcher. They're about to win their first World Series in more than a century. Of course, they are!

quote:

“It’s from the ‘80s and they mothballed it,” Caro said. “It only came back in 2007. I love the fact that some people think this is some kind of great tradition.”

quote:

A song created by and for WGN and mentioning WGN has no place anymore. And besides, people singing it look stupid and sound stupid. It’s bad for the new Cubs brand.

The Cubs might have brought back in 2007, but that song has been in every bar in Wrigley since it came out in the 80s, and part of the reason the Cubs brought it back.

It is cheesy, but it is very Chicago, and thus why I like it.

Ugh, agree to disagree on that one.
