They have had two bye weeks the last couple of years, to have their last games the same week as the CCGs.

Are they going to try to add any more teams?

You know, I hadn't even considered this but you are right. They had 2 last year which is what enabled them to play games during championship week and helped boost RG3 to win the Heisman. (Not saying he didnt deserve it but saying it wasnt a factor is naive)

I foresee some serious bitching and whining by some conference officials of other conferences on this if so.

ETA: I can see them combating this by keeping that first weekend in December as being the last weekend eligible for regular season games. It would even up the odds IMO and not allow them to have more rest during the regular season schedule than anyone else.

well since that extra bye is when the conference games are in full gear, I don't see how that concerns other conferences. It's not an advantage since everyone in the conf does it.

Texas Tech and TCU have bye weeks on that last week. I would not be happy with that if I were those two teams.

Except that if they were getting 2 byes in the middle of the season, I am sure there were teams outside their conference playing them in games after their second bye weeks. It's not like they were just taking the week before the last week off. I think they were taking them in the middle of the season. I could be wrong on that but I dont THINK I am.

For a while I've been saying it's an advantage for conferences w/o a championship game for a while. USC would get an extra bye week plus playing in a weaker conference w/o a championship game, making it easier for them to get through a season undefeated.

The TV networks need the additional games played on championship Saturday for the extra revenue. The only thing I could see the NCAA doing is to limit the number of bye weeks between a teams 1st game and last. So if a team is not in a conference with a championship game, and they play on championship Saturday, then they could not play week 1. That would also delay the start of fall practice for the team by a week.
