Neil Weiner was on Tim Fletcher radio show in Shreveport Friday morning talking about a plan that would essentially allow for the Public schools to have what they want (Non-Select Title and Select Title) & would keep 0-10 teams and the sort out of the play-offs.

Those two title winners would match-up in the Dome for the Prep Classic Championship.

Has the brackets mocked-up based off this years actual results:
Class 5A: Zachary vs Catholic
Class 4A: Neville vs St. Thomas More
Class 3A: Lutcher vs Parkview Baptist
Class 2A: Kinder vs Notre Dame
Class 1A: Kentwood vs Southern Lab

4 of the 5 match-ups would have had the PUBLIC school as the "favorite" to win (based on power ratings).

If you are a split supporter and you don't think this has some merit...

Create an LHSAAS and LHSAAP. Winners of each "conference" play each other in the Dome.

That's a good proposal. If the publics don't go for that, it's time for the privates to split. He shows that it's unfair how many games selects get to play in the playoffs. The split is all about fairness, right?

I think it's best to stay together but only if it's something like this. If this doesn't feel fair...then they don't need to play together at all.

16 public on one side, 16 private on the other side. Hand out public/private state champs trophies before the final game in the Dome. 5 classes like we used to have.

This makes too much sense. LHSAA would never go for it.

Yes they can and the handbook and constitution has already been written. The linchpin is the Catholic. league of NOLA...if they agree to split this time, it will happen before next school year.

This is an actual fact not just a scare tactic.

speaking of which... Sabine Parish where Many is has 7 high schools...

probably all of whom voted for the split

their total number of students as of the last LHSAA reclassification? 1,109

wonder if they would cry foul if we split into Arabi, Chalmette, Meraux, Violet, Poydras, Delacroix, and Yscloskey High?

what should be the fix? for proposals to pass at the convention, they must receive a majority of votes and those schools must represent more students than the other side. That way you need all sizes of schools on an issue. if you get a majority of schools but not a majority of students, the proposal gets tabled till next year

This makes sense. But it would never be allowed.
