AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas will start selling beer and wine to fans at home football games beginning this fall.

Beer and wine were already sold at other sporting events, but Royal-Memorial Stadium had remained alcohol-free. The school announced the change Wednesday.

Bad idea...not sure how I feel about the prospect of some drunk dude spilling his beer on me after a score.

all a schools has to do is look at a cost comparison of the alcohol versus increased insurance cost.

We've had it at Cajun Field for a few years.

Decent draft too! I think it's $6 per premium beer, $5 domestic.

Never seen an incident of drunks fighting etc inside the stadium.

If West Virginia can sell alcohol at games with nothing bad happening, it can and should be done everywhere.

So you would prefer a drunk dude spilling coke and smuggling in whiskey?

all big12 schools will probably follow. Then SEC and the others.

beer is a good idea, imo. Keeps me from bringing in whiskey and keeps me alive at the same time.

they do it in the NFL so I really don't see any difference in doing it at collegiate events. maybe there's some sort of liability but, i'm not sure.

why? it's not a bad idea at the superdome or in Atlanta for the SEC championship game.
