Should panthers draft Fournette if he's available?

About half the people calling into charlotte sports radio seem to be in favor of drafting him and I agree with them. The naysayers claim he won't do well out of the shotgun and most of them want Mccaffrey (or rarely cook)

My only doubts/questions come with his abilities to handle traditional 3rd down responsibility, pass protection. We all know cam is obnoxiously slow to get the ball out so the RB needs to be able to protect and or drop out for a quick pass into the flat. Can Fournette fulfill this role??

Edit: why should they take him?

Well that's dumb, but I think Fournette will be gone by 8 and they will draft McCaffery.

Nah, he would be better suited for another team. Carolina would be a bad fit for the tiger.

Hard to say? What round?

Huge leap taking an RB 1st round today.

Everybody should take fournete if available at the right time.

Hell even second round is suspect for an RB. If Adrian Peterson were 20 today he'd probably go in the second in today's draft.

Will Fournette be able to adapt his running style to fit whatever system gets him? Some sports radio I've been listening too seem to think he needs a power running, I form straight at you running system to be successful. I don't know if this is true but I can see it causing some concerns for NFL teams

I think it's pretty obvious what round he's going in.

Double-down on Shula Ball by drafting LF?

Sounds like guar-own-teed success to me.

Ok. Then nope. Whoever has or ends up with 2 first round picks should go for him.

An RB #8 overall in 2017? But hell the talking heads have him as high as 4?

Just seems risky and old school.

An RB when #10 in 2015 and #4 in 2016.

Not googling. How'd they pan out? I legitimately don't know who they are. And if you do off the top of you head and you're not Todd McShay or Mel Kiper you need to get out more. Watch some porn. Lol

Panthers have greater needs elsewhere. They have to address the o line and secondary above all else.

here's an article from PFF comparing Cook and Fournette coming into last season. Fournette did well in his blocking role in 2015.

And another from PFF of their overall scouting report on Fournette
LINK /
quote:

Physical pass blocker who recorded a pass-blocking efficiency of 97 percent or higher in all three years, albeit on a small sample size.
