I know the bats were changed in 2011 and the power numbers and ERA are down, but do you think they should move to wood bats to better prepare these kids for the minors and majors? I would think the biggest problem is most schools lose money in baseball anyway and it would be an added expense to constantly buy new bats.

Nope, too expensive for many many programs.

And kids are getting to the majors as fast as ever from college, and college kids are getting drafted with higher and higher priority.

It's fine.

I just edited my post to include this. Just spitballing here. The sport looks like it's doing pretty well as is. Probably best not to fix what isn't broken

YES!

Can't afford the bats? You don't get to play NCAA baseball.

Would cost to much $$$ and college baseball needs all the offense it can get!

Yeah and the aluminum bat companies would obviously block it 100% to secure their endorsement deals and protect their business. It could be more safe though, as a ball doesn't jump off the wood bat as much. A wood bat actually costs less than an aluminum bat, but they do break, so there's that. I'm guessing it won't happen, although some coaches support the idea.

My idea is to get MLB to sponsor the wood bats.

Get them to sponsor the balls, too; with identical seams as MLB & there's the offense everyone seems to want.

Riddle me ignorant on this but how can even a well off high school not be able to replace bats every year? Not that they would need to though.

Whats the price range of a decent collegiate level bat? You absolutely will not convince me that they can't afford it. Especially when I see stories of the hundreds of millions laundered and committed to beautifying campuses yearly. Im pretty sure even I could negotiate a decent contract with a bat company. If it's about the balls over that back fence then I totally get it. And this may make me look silly but don't baseball kids come from mostly $olid homes?

You have to assume most college players are travel ball alums. Just charge their travel mommies and daddies for the bats. They'd love it.

If they changed to wooden bats there'd be 18 inning 1-0 games.

Please god no.

I honestly believe there would be more homers with wooden bats and a Major League Baseball.

Wood bats are too expensive because they break and need to be replaced more than once a year

I think there would be alot more homeruns with the wooden bats. Look at ABreg, he has around 15 hr's and the most he had at LSU was 9 I think. Wood bats are better.. period
